Very Impressive Person - Levi Fitzgerald
For Your Information–I’m so proud of my students for earning 20 compliments in the first week and a half of school! They have been using good manners, making good choices, and working hard! Our only problem is too much talking when they should be working/listening. * Most students have gotten their behavior folder signed every night. Thanks so much for checking this and reinforcing good behavior at school! If we have any extra homework throughout the week, it will be in the “blue” folder. * Friday I sent home the “morning work” page we worked on every morning. I don’t grade those since I write the correct answers on the board every morning as we go over them. The students are supposed to make the corrections on their papers. Please review these with your child every week. It will have grammar, analogies, money and time. *Our newsletter will be posted on our class webpage. You can access it by going to *Fundraiser forms are due back by Friday, August, 30th. *I have no way of controlling the temperature in our classroom. Some days it’s been hot and some days cold. Your child may want to bring a sweatshirt or jacket to leave at school in case it’s cold. I’ll remind them to take it home from time to time to wash it. *We have Ipads for students to use in our classroom. Students will be using them to do “listen to reading” during Daily 5 time. Please send a set of headphones or ear buds for your child to use. He/she will also be able to use them during computer lab time. THANKS!

Get Up and Go!

This week’s story is an informational story. A girl’s dog keeps track of what she does when she gets up from bed in the morning and how long it takes until she leaves the house. We will be talking about author’s purpose this week. The vocabulary words that go with this story are: always, homework, minutes, snuggle and treat. Please discuss these with your child throughout the week. The definitions are in the glossary in the back of the book. Your child’s test over last week’s story is stapled to this packet. We took the test using the CPS system where the students enter in their answer choice on a “clicker”. The score is highlighted at the top of the page and the questions your child missed is shown. Please review these with your child. Please remember to read the story with your child and talk about it every night.

Super Spellers – these students made 100% or 105% this week – Allison, Levi, Ben, Matthew, Caroline S., Brie, Alexis, and Maddie!
These students missed 1 or 2 words –Caroline Cate, Lukas, and Bryent!
Remember to study spelling words every night. One night your child might write each word 5 times. Another night you might give him/her a practice quiz to see which words he/she needs to work on.

Please send ALL beginning of the year paperwork back ASAP! If students don’t have permission to use computers, they will not be allowed to use the computers in the computer lab or our Ipads.
