Upon graduating from Edison, I really wasn’t ready for college, so I attended a technical school for training as an electronic technician. Upon graduating I went to work at Cape Canaveral working for Boeing Airplane Co. on the Minute-Man missile. After two years I was ready for college where I attended the University of Maryland majoring in electrical engineering, with degrees from Strayer University (BSCIS), and George Mason University (MSSWSE).
The majority of my professional career was with the IBM Corporation which I retired from in 1994. My early years with IBM were in developing sonar systems for the U.S. Navy’s nuclear submarine programs. I also had some radio communication experience and had a hand in designing ground sensors for the Viet Nam war effort and participated in Operation Reforger which was the NATO war game activity held in Germany. In my later career I managed hardware and software development programs particularly on government contracts with IBM and later with Northrop Grumman Corp.
I am happily married to my second wife Anne (Lutz) Lashenka (from Kentucky), and 2009 is our 25th anniversary. Anne and I married in Fredrick Maryland and lived in Gainesville, VA for the next twenty years, (suburb of Washington, D.C.). We each have a child from our previous marriages and their birthdays are exactly 7 days apart. My daughter Tanya lives with her husband in Ft.Worth and Anne’s son John lives with his wife and our granddaughter here in Naples.
Anne and I moved to Naples in October 2004 where we built our current house. I couldn’t take being retired so I ended up working for a software company here in Naples as their Global Project Manager. I have since left them and now have my real-estate license, which keeps me quite busy.
My hobbies include woodworking, particularly chip carving, fishing, and golf. For a brief period I enjoyed racing sailboats and cruising on Chesapeake Bay. Anne and I have been traveling a lot lately, 11 trips in 2008, and will do some again this year.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you this coming August for our 50th reunion. .
