NOTES TO INSTRUCTOR

1.If there are more than 15 cadets the class should be divided into two or more squads.

2.Instruct cadets about going down on one knee when feeling faint.

3.Use assistant instructor(s) for the demonstration of these movements.

ORDER

1.Order the squad into a suitable formation.

MOVEMENT

WHAT:During this lesson you will learn how to executeforming a single file from three ranks from the halt and on the march, andhow to executereforming threes froma single rank from the halt and on the march.

WHY:Forming a single file is executed when it is necessary to have cadets file into an area where space does not permit three cadets abreast. Reforming threes is executed whena single file formation is no longer required.

WHERE:These drill movements enables a large group of cadets to be formed into a singlefile for entering through narrow doorways or filing into a classroom/mess hall.

1.At the end of the lesson each of you will be required to execute forming a single file from three ranks from the halt and on the march,and to executereforming threes froma single rank from the halt and on the marchas ordered.

DEMONSTRATE

1.Demonstrate a squad in threes forming a single file from the halt.

EXPLAIN

1.On the command, “SINGLE FILE FROM THE LEFT (RIGHT), QUICK–MARCH”:

a.the directing flank marches off in single file in quick time; and

b.the remainder mark time. The leading cadet of the centre and

remaining file execute a left(right) incline and lead off in single

file when the file on his/her left (right) is clear.

1.Demonstrate a squad in threes forming a single file on the march.

EXPLAIN

1.On the command, “SINGLE FILE FOM THE LEFT (RIGHT), REMAINDER MARK – TIME”, given as the right foot is forward and on the ground:

a.the directing flank continues marching forward;

b.the remainder mark time; and

c.the leading cadet of the centre and rear files execute a left (right)

inclineand lead off in single file when the file on his/her left (right)is

clear.

Test Details - Each cadet will be checked independently and will be required to execute

forming a single file from three ranks from the halt and on the march, and

toexecutereforming threes froma single rank from the halt and on the

marchasrequired.

1.It is essential that all individual and collective mistakes are corrected in order that these mistakes do not become a habitual pattern.

2.Drill has an overall assessment upon completion of training for this PO; therefore, emphasis must be placed on practice and the correction of mistakes.
