it was dedicated to St. Barbara, the miners’ patron saint

it was founded in 1388 and completed 1905

it was financed by the miners themselves

it was planned to be twice as long

many events interrupted its construction, for example the Hussite Wars

it was built in stages by several architects

Johann Parler, local builders, Matyas Rejsek, Benedikt Ried

in 1588 a provisional wall terminating the church was built due to lack of resources

mines in the Osel district were flooded

it remained unfinished for over 300 years

inside the church can be found a 1510 sanctuary, Late Gothic choir benches with wood carved decorations,

some gothic frescoes, four woodcarved Baroque statues representing four virtues
