/ Permanent 21 hours per weekterm time only
Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Purpose :

/ To provide an efficient and inspirational library facility for all students within the school.
To promote reading for pleasure and learning for all.

Reporting to:

/ IT Manager

Liaising with:

/ All staff, students, parents, external agencies

Responsible for:

/ The Library

Duties:

/
  • To provide and maintain an efficient library service for students and staff within the Academy.
  • To liaise with the Head of English and the Literacy Co-ordinator to provide a programme of enrichment events to promote reading within the school including events such as World Book Day, Jack Petchey, World Poetry Day etc.
  • To liaise with SLT and the Head of English to enable the efficient running of ‘Accelerated Reader’.
  • To provide guidance to students and staff in the procedures, systems and use of the Library.
  • To maintain the school library stock, putting away returned books, updating and cataloguing stock as necessary.
  • To implement procedures for the recovery of overdue and/or non-returned books.
  • To create a positive environment to facilitate students access to resources for study and reading for pleasure.
  • To co-ordinate and supervise student ambassadors.
  • To represent the library at Open Evenings and Careers and Options events where required.
  • To undertake reprographic work as required
  • To change Network passwords for students
  • To maintain Library Notice Boards
  • To undertake clerical duties as requested by senior staff

  • To participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager.
  • To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace.
  • Ensure that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the School’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
