Sample Student Poem: IT MAY NOT BE USED BY THE STUDENTS AS THEIR OWN POEM.
I am the leader of the Green Mountain Boys
I wonder why capturing Fort Ticonderoga was too east
I hear the cheer of victory all around me
I see the colonies winning the war already
I am the leader of the Green Mountain Boys
I pretend to see the future of America in peace and prosperity
I feel the cheer of victory shaking the ground underneath me
I touch America’s precious soil everyday
I worry that I might be hanged if we lost the war
I cry for the poor souls who died for our freedom
I am the leader of the Green Mountain Boys
I understand that even if we lose the war, we will die with great honor
I say the future perhaps is hopeful
I dream of a new nation like no other in the world
I try to do my best to help fight for my peoples’ liberty
I hope that when we win, our children will enjoy our precious liberties
I am the leader of the Green Mountain Boys
