Job Title : Independent Living Specialist / CIL Office Coordinator
Independent Living Specialist / CIL Office Coordinator
1. Purpose: Coordinate or provide activities for the CIL office to ensure independent living skill instruction, mentoring and resource identification services occur which enhance opportunities for people with disabilities to exercise independence at home, at work, in school and in the community.
2. Reports To: Director of Program Services, Center for Independent Living
3. Essential Functions:
•Provide information and referral services and instruction for the development of independent living skills for consumers in the area.
•Facilitate peer mentoring relationships between peers and consumers.
•Supervise and coordinate the activities of the volunteer receptionist position.
•Supervise and coordinate the county equipment loan closet.
•Actively engage in fundraising and resource identification activities intended to support the CIL.
•Develop relationships with community leaders, consumers and professionals in the county area which promotes the development of a stronger CIL.
•Participate in the provision of the Tech 2000 grant objectives for the County area.
•Participate in the Independent Living Services Team meetings, as needed.
•Complete all reports including, but not limited to: timesheets, vacation, sick leave, compensation time, leave of absence requests, activity reports and grant applications by their respective due dates.
•Complete and maintain all Consumer Services Records in compliance with the Federal Quality Assurance Standards and Indicators.
•Travel required within counties.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

•Enhance the image of the CIL in person, by telephone and in written communication.
5. Qualifications
•Personal experience with disability and /or knowledge of disability issues and the consumer/community based IL philosophy.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Good computer and word processing skills.
•Management, leadership and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively and use judgment and discretion in decision-making.
•Commitment to, and ability for, continuous improvement and mastery of the relevant body of knowledge related to this position.
•Bachelors Degree preferred in social work or related field of study.
