Job Purpose/Summary

This role will be accountable for leading excellence in clinical practice and continuing professional development programmes for nursing and clinical support roles. The post holder, together with the quality assurance team, and frontline staff will be accountable for the delivery of clinical excellence. Together with the Caring Services Management team, this post will assist to build a team approach to the patient’s individual needs. To achieve this, the post holder will provide leadership, management and continuing development of the Practice Development Facilitators.

Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • In partnership with the other Head of Practice Development this role will work at all times to ensure consistency and a strategic approach.
  • Provide management and leadership to the Practice Development Facilitators within the designated geographical area..
  • Manage the strategic aims and the clinical contribution to delivering of the strategy
  • Develop mechanisms and systems to ensure the delivery of quality and consistent education, training and skills for the nursing service and hospices within national and local agreed frameworks.
  • Build relationships, networks and engage with all internal and external liaisons.
  • Develop national workforce development programmes eg HCA and RN projects etc
  • Lead on clinical practice projects and improvement programmes as required.
  • Use influential communication skills and develop working relationships within the team and with key stakeholders to promote clinical excellence and person centred care
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop national and local governance processes to ensure training and development plans are based upon evidence based data, strategic priorities and service manager feedback.
  • Source, recommend and access training/education and learning materials (nationally and online)
  • Develop clinical policies and procedures for use across hospice and community nursing services to ensure the delivery of excellent person centred care
  • Lead the implementation and embed the model of excellence work, and ensure evaluation of the effectiveness of the model.
  • Present at national conferences and publish practice development ininitaives within Marie Curie
  • Work clinically in practice reqularly to ensure visible leadership and support to Practice Development leads and team across Hospice and Nursing services.
