W.J. Mouat Aboriginal ProgramFall 2016 | Issue# / 1This fall there are 147 Mouat Aboriginal who’ve had the opportunity to get involved in field trips, programs, groups and school events.
Our upcoming events are:

- Indigenous Gardening Club every Friday
- The Feast Monday Oct. 31 at lunch
Clan Quest, family tree challenge will be launched! This will be open to all students to participate in. Prizes awarded atNov.21 Feast. Hosted by MASC.
- Strengthening the Circle Aboriginal Student Leadership Conference Nov. 15-17. Senior students attend Nov. 15-16 Junior students Nov. 16-17 Langley
- Canada Day 150 Ottawa Field Trip
Carving Workshop
Friday Oct. 28, 2016
Mouat Aboriginal students will have the opportunity to learn to carve with Hereditary Chief Harvey Robinson pictured above in his regalia during a visit to Mouat last spring. The carving workshop is a first for Mouat and students will learn to carve a wooden feather in Mouat House from 8:10 am-2:35 pm, behind portable 17 in the corner of our campus.
Indigenous Gardening Club IDS
Non-aboriginal and aboriginal students are participating in the Indigenous Gardening Club, held every Friday during FLEX block. Pictured above, students dig hole prior to planting an espalier apple tree. So far, students have learned about perennials, annuals, bulbs as well as how plant and transplant flowers and trees. This is an Independent Directed Study (Horticulture 11).
