Role Title: Research Scientist (KTP Associate)

Salary £27,500 - £31,000 per annum

Additional benefits: ca £8,000 training and travel budget

Role Purpose: To lead a collaborative project (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) between Northumbria University and industry partner QuantuMDx Group Ltd

Responsible to: Gary Wells

Generic Duties and Responsibilities:

In line with the University’s Mission, Corporate Strategy and Leadership Attributes, you will:

·  Develop a full understanding of the strategic aims and function of the KTP project, the company and University.

·  To research, develop, implement and project manage

·  To take the ownership of the project

·  To feedback to the project team and deliver the project in accordance with the project plan and KTP management requirements

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Location: The position is based at QuantuMDx Group Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne and will involve visits to Northumbria University as well as travel (UK and possibly international) in connection with the KTP project.

Attendance Requirements: The post-holder should be available for work during QuantuMDx’ business hours of (normally 9 am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday).

Able to work at the boundaries of two or more scientific or engineering disciplines / D / A
Prior experience in surface modification of thermoplastic substrates and the physical and chemical characterisation of these modified materials / D / A
To demonstrate an interest in and/or understanding of microfluidic devices for use in point-of-care medical diagnostics / D / A
Demonstrable passion for problem solving, adaptability and development of experimental designs to accommodate evolving requirements / E / A
Building bespoke experimental apparatus / D / I
Follow H&S practices and preparation of CoSHH risk assessments / E / A
