III. Guest Speakers and Student Concerns

a.  Guest Speakers:

i.  Marie Basler – Off-campus Student Association Advisor – Represent anyone who doesn’t live on campus – help find off-campus housing information & roommate, deal with issues with neighbors, find parking places, etc. More information at http://www.osuoffcampus.org/ocsa/

ii.  Jessica Schnaiter-Brasche – NAGPS - More information coming about offers from NAGPS like vision, dental, life, tuition, and disability insurance. More information at http://nagps.org/

c)  Treasurer – Prashanth Busi Reddy Gari – First quarter travel reimbursement applications have been reviewed, 22 qualified applications have been approved and checks will be sent out in 2 weeks.

d)  Secretary – Tian Lin

a.  Please submit membership applications ASAP. If your organization doesn’t change representatives, please also submit a new application form with current representatives’ names on.

b.  Deadline for fixing attendance problems – If a group or individual’s attendance needs to be changed/corrected, please email within 14 days after the meeting in question, after 2 weeks attendance will be locked in and cannot be changed. (Starting from the third GA meeting)

e)  Intergovernmental Liaison – Kevin Coughlin

f)  Parliamentarian – Li Ding

g)  Communication Director – Kendall Scarlett - If you have anything you want to share with us as good of the order, please send us the information before the GA meeting.

h)  Social Chair – Cortney Jackson – Vote for social events on Campuslink!

i)  SGA Liaison – Braden Kellogg – Not present

V.  Old Business

a.  Committee Sign-Up – If you haven’t sign up for committees, you will be included in the social committee automatically. Otherwise, please contact Jessica for more campus-wide committee opportunities. The committee information is now on our website.

VI. New Business

a.  New group recognition – Hispanic Graduate Student Society (HGSS)

i.  Seven active members - students enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program - to advance students, especially those of Hispanic decent, in the areas of academic success, community service, social interactions and cultural awareness.

ii.  Active in community services, fundraising, and other activities.

iii.  Group would be able to attend all GPSGA meetings.

iv.  Vote – passes, welcome to GPSGA, Hispanic Graduate Student Society!

b.  Charity Nominations – Charity nomination information is on our website, please get your nominations in before next Tuesday, Sep 26!

c.  Co-sponsorship application – Extend the deadline of application to 5pm, Sep 22. Finance committee will review the applications soon and groups will be informed about how much they can get. This is ONLY for special events!

VII.  Good of the Order

a.  Hispanic Graduate Student Society: Recycle them! – Collect recycled posters. Sep 20-29 at 209 Ag Hall.

b.  Hispanic Graduate Student Society – How to be a taco lover. 7-9pm on Oct 5. $10 for movie & a taco dinner.

i.  Patent online: Supplement your teaching and Research – 1pm on Sep 28

ii.  Literature review writing workshop – 10am at Sep 21

iii.  Abstract writing workshop –3:30pm on Oct 11 & 4pm on Oct 12.

e.  Data using meeting - 1pm in Library 110A.

f.  Dr. Brenda Smith will attend GPSGA meetings instead of Dr. Clinkenbeard.
