MEMORANDUM FOR 88 AEG/CC

FROM: 88 AEG/MDS

SUBJECT: Drinking Water

1. As a health precaution, I recommend tap water not be consumed by any U.S. military personnel anywhere on Taegu AB. Pursuant to the results of three consecutive tests of the tap water at various locations on Taegu, I consider its suitability for human consumption to be marginal at best. Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units (ROWPU) will bring the water up to acceptable standards.

2. If ROWPUs will not be used or there aren’t enough of them to meet the needs of all assigned personnel, the purchase of bottled water is an alternative. According to the U.S. Embassy, all drinking water bottled by South Korean firms meet U.S. health standards for human consumption. The following is a partial list of South Korean bottled water producers. The appearance of firms on this list does not constitute an endorsement of the firm or any product they may produce.

Crystal Pure Water Co., Ltd.

Gajisan Natural Mineral Water Co., Ltd.

Pulmuone Mineral Water Co.

Sansu Water

Seng Hong Co. (Pte) Ltd.
