Congratulations, you have just been awarded the job of Town Planner at the Casey City Council. Cranbourne is a growing area and there is a need for housing and businesses to support the large numbers of people moving here.

There are two very exciting opportunities available to you:

1.  Create your very own town (option one). You have been given a blank space of land (the natural features are up to you) to turn into a thriving community.

2.  Re-design Cranbourne (option two). Cranbourne has a lot of history and a lot of services for the Casey area. Your role is to improve the town so that it has even more services to make it a “hub” people will travel to from all over the area.

Which one will you choose?

Justification / Amenities/
Services / Design / Letter / Reflection
Above the standard (Year 10+) / Services are matched to specific needs and the positive and negative impacts on community are fully explained. / The town contains all services needed to function and has a sense of community spirit / Within restrictions. Well presented and functional, designed in context to other areas. / Uses correct letter format. Cites evidence and research to help prove point. / ILP reflections and end of assessment reflection are insightful and show changes to ideas over time.
At the standard (Year 9) / Identifies areas of need and includes services to meet needs, explaining how these make a difference. / The town contains the key services and amenities a town needs to function and entertain its residents. / Follow BOLTSS. Within Restrictions.
Design is well presented and functional as a town. / Uses correct letter format. Expresses opinion clearly and is backed up by examples and reasons. / Reflections are in full sentences and show evidence of the changes you have made to your work/ideas and areas of success or struggle.
Below the standard (Year 8 or below) / Justification identifies areas of need in the community. Links between needs and services are inconsistent. / The town has several key services, but has not provided enough of some. / Follows some but not all BOLTSS. Design is clear. Presentation is sloppy or messy. / Incorrect format. Does not support ideas with examples, or idea is unclear. / Reflections are short and describe what the student did each lesson.
Ungraded / Not submitted / Town has not listed key services. / Does not include BOLTSS. Town is difficult to understand. / Not submitted. / No reflections submitted.
