Dates to Remember

Tuesday, September 19 – Adult Faith Formation series begins (6 – 7:30pm)

In light of recent events in Charlottesville and elsewhere, the Adult Faith Formation committee has decided to postpone the previously announced "Animate" discussion series.

Instead, Rev. Corinne Freedman Ellis and Rev. Grace Anderson will co-facilitate a series calledWhite Privilege: Let's Talk - A Resource for Transformational Dialogue.

Each Tuesday, starting onSeptember 19from6 to 7:30pm, we'll gather in the Plymouth Room for "safe, meaningful, substantive, and bold conversations on race," as described by the United Church of Christ, which published the curriculum.

The 12-part series features the voices of Traci Blackmon, John Dorhauer, and other leaders from the denomination speaking candidly about race and faith. Topics include The Spiritual Autobiography Told Through the Lens of Race, Whiteness as the Norm, The Cash Value of Whiteness, and On Becoming an Ally.

This class will be BYO dinner. If you want to place a sandwich order, please get in touch with Emily Gurnon at .Childcare will be provided. Feel free to bring guests for this important dialogue. Thank you!

To promote group cohesion and a sense of safety in difficult conversations, we require that you be able to attend 7 of the 12 total sessions to participate. Can't come this fall? We're offering the curriculum again at a future date.

Pam and Dwight Johnson

Pam and Dwight Johnson recently moved to the Highland Park area of St. Paul. They previously lived in Rosemount, relocating there from Oak Park, IL in 2008. Pam is a native of Des Moines, IA, but grew up in the Macalester Groveland area. Dwight is originally from Downers Grove, IL but grew up in Omaha, NE. They met as students at Carleton College. They joined Macalester Plymouth in 2010 after visiting many churches in the southeast metro area. Dwight noted that they chose Mac Plymouth even though it was 25 minutes away from home because “it was the right size
for us, had a real commitment to good music, good preaching and a sense of genuineness.”

The Johnson family includes three adult children: David
and wife Aleta (Minnetonka), Sarah and husband Ned (Minneapolis), Carolyn (Boston) and four grandchildren.

Dwight recently retired as city administrator of Rosemount and previously served Shoreview and Plymouth as city manager. Pam works in higher education as a consultant/interim executive in enrollment management after previously working at St. Kate’s and Hamline. Both enjoy travelling and spending time with the grandchildren and Pam enjoys gardening as well.
