Hello New Fourth Grader!

Welcome to Martin Luther King School and 4th grade! My name is Miss Lindsay Pish and I will be your teacher this year. I am looking forward to meeting you on Wednesday, September 7th, where I will be waiting for you in room 34. It’s in the front, left hallway, last door on the left. I will be outside the door looking just for you!

Fourth grade is an exciting year, where you will do fun things like learn about New Jersey’s history, observe weather, and read many new books. That’s just naming a few of the things that will happen this year! As a class, we will also work on attaining greater responsibility for our schoolwork and gaining more independence to work on our own.

One thing that may be a little different for you this year is that you will have two teachers. I will be teaching you literacy, which is reading and writing, and Mrs. Reynolds will be teaching you math. On the first day of school, please bring:

·  3 single subject notebooks (about 70 pages each- labeled Spanish, Science/Social Studies, and Technology) *Please have a separate notebook for each.

·  1 homework folder (plastic preferably, so that it is durable)

·  5 two-pocket folders (labeled Spanish, Technology, Music, Math, Science/Social Studies). *No binders or large file folders, please. They will not fit in desks.

·  2 gluesticks, a highlighter, scissors, a red pen, pencils, erasers, and a thin dry erase marker in a soft pencil case.

Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. If you have any questions before school, visit my website on www.piscatawayschools.org or email me at . I hope you are as excited to begin 4th grade as I am to meet you!

See you in September,

Miss Pish
