VENUE: / The Greensboro Aquatics Center is a 50 meter pool which can be broken into two short course venues with a separate diving well. The pool depth is 9’-10’ at the start and turn ends and 4” lane lines will be used to reduce turbulence. The lane width is 9’. A Colorado Timing System 6 with a Daktronics Pro-Star LED Video Scoreboard Display will display results simultaneously. Starting platforms are Colorado Competition deck anchored platforms. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. No outside Food or Drink will be permitted. There is a spectator seating area with a capacity of 1850 persons. Spectators are not allowed on the deck at any time. The 650 bleacher seats on deck are reserved for swimmers only.

Food and drink may be purchased from various Food Carts located throughout the venue.

Relay cards are due approximately an hour before the events are scheduled to swim but may be changed up until the relay swims.
RULES: / This meet will be conducted in accordance with the current USA Swimming Rules and Regulations and NCS Safety Program, except where rules are therein optional and exceptions are herein stated.
Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.
Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms orother designated areas is prohibited.
The NCS Safety Program is in effect for this meet. Coaches are advised to closely supervise theirswimmers at all times. NO running or horseplay will be tolerated.No glass containers are allowed inside the building. No spectators will be allowed on deck.
ELIGIBILITY: / Open to the members of the Eastern Section of the Southern Zone, its clubs and swimmers registered with USA Swimming that are in good standing with Eastern Section. All USA Swimming registered clubs in the following LSCs are eligible to join the Eastern Section: Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southeastern and West Virginia. There will be no on deck USA Swimming registration available at this meet.
Swimmers and clubs from outside these LSC boundaries are eligible to participate in the Spring Championship meet provided they meet the summer USA Junior National qualifying standards and become a registered club member of the Eastern Section.
There will be on-deck Southern Zone registration for teamswishing to join the Eastern Section. Entries from swimmers froma non-member club may be accepted into the meet, but prior to competing, the club must pay the $45 club registration fee to become an Eastern Section registered team. Please include a separate check made payable to North Carolina Swimming Region Fund with your meet entry fees.
SWIMMERS WITH DISABILITIES: / Star Aquatics welcomes all swimmers with disabilities as described in the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, Article 105, to participate in our meets. Coaches entering swimmers with disabilities that require any accommodations are required to provide advance notice in writing to the meet director by the entry deadline accompanying their meet entry file, including the need for any personal assistants required and/or registered service animals. Failure to provide advance notice may limit Star's ability to accommodate all requests.
TIME STANDARDS: / All swimmers must have met the 2014-2015 Spring Sectional short course or long course qualifying time standard in each event entered. Swimmers should enter the meet using the time and course in which they achieved the qualifying time standard and will be seeded accordingly. Faster times achieved following the entry deadline will not be accepted as replacements for previously entered times.
FORMAT: /
  • All events will be swum short course (25 yards). Conforming time will be Short Course Yards. Long Course Meter times and Short Course Meter times will be accepted but not converted. Events will be seeded SCY/LCM/SCM. All Relays should be entered with Short Course Yard times.
  • Positive Check-In will be required for all individual and relay events 400 yards or longer. These events will be deck-seeded after positive check in. See the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedulefor a complete list of dates and times for each event’s check-in deadline.
  • All individual events, except the 1000 and 1650 Free, will be conducted on a preliminary and final basis. Eight (8) swimmers each, women and men, will qualify for a Championship, Consolation, Bonus and “D” heat in each event in the finals. Finals heats will swim slowest to fastest with the “D” final reserved for 18 & Under Swimmers only.
  • The 1650 Free will be conducted as a timed final on Sunday,March 8. Swimmers may opt to swim during the AM or PM session. The fastest eight (8) seeded women and men who select the PM option will swim during finals on Sunday evening in the order on the event sheet. The remaining swimmers will compete at the end of the prelim session on Sunday. These preliminary heats will begin ten (10) minutes after the completion of the 400 Medley Relay (Event #38) and will be seeded fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Swimmers must provide their own lap counter and timer.Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
  • The 1000 Free will be deck-seeded and will be conducted as a timed final on Thursday evening March 8.The heats will be swum with the fastest three (3) heats of women slowest to fastest, the fastest three (3) heats of men slowest to fastest, then alternating women and men fastest to slowest. Swimmers must provide their own lap counter and timer.Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
  • The 400 IM and 500 Free will be swum in the following order: the fastest four (4) women’s heats then the fastest four (4) men’s heats swum slowest to fastest (the fastest three (3) heats will be circle seeded), then the remainder of the heats will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
  • The 800 Free Relay will be deck-seeded and conducted as a timed final on Thursday, March 8. The heat order will be slowest to fastest, all women then all men. Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
  • The 400 Free Relay will be deck-seededand conducted as a timed final on Friday, March 9. The heat order will be slowest to fastest, all women then all men. The fastest two (2) heats of women and men will be swum during finals on Friday evening, slow to fast. The remaining heats will be swum at the end of prelims.There is no AM/PM option.Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
The 400 Medley Relay will be deck-seeded and conducted as a timed final on Sunday, March 11. There will be an AM/PM option. The heat order will be slowest to fastest, all women then all men. The fastest two (2) heats of women and men choosing PM will swim during finals, slow to fast. Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule.
  • There will be a ten (10) minute break before ALL relay events.
  • Heats and events may be combined or swum in a second pool at the discretion of the Meet Referee.

ENTRY LIMITS: / Swimmers may swim three (3) individual events per day, excluding relays. Though swimmersmay enter as many events as they have attained standards for, any swimmer that is over-subscribed and fails to scratch down to three (3) individual events for the day by the scratch deadline will be removed from the event(s) entered beyond the daily limit of three (3) individual events per day. Swimmers participating on relay teams only must be listed on the OME roster and entry forms. Each team will be limited to two (2) relay teams per event. Coaches/swimmers are highly encouraged to review their entries (See Psych Sheet section below) and request corrections by the deadline.
ENTRIES: / All entries must be made using USA Swimming’s Online Meet Entry (OME) including relays and relay only swimmers. OME will close Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7:00 p.m. OME will open on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 8:00pm. Entry times can be updated until OME closes. Please bring to the meet printed copies of OME rosters including relay only swimmers and entries for verification. Entries must include each swimmer’s USA Swimming number, first and last name, age as of March 5, 2015, seeding time to the 100th of a second, and event number for each event entered.
DO NOT check out with payment after completing your OME entries. Send an email to when entries are complete. A check made out to STAR Aquatics is due no later than check-in. Teams paying through OME must pay the 4.8% OME credit card surcharge by check made out to STAR Aquatics no later than check-in.
  • Complete the attached Meet Entry Form and mail it along with your payment*.
  • Late Entries*may be accepted by the Meet Referee until 30 minutes before the session start time and will be placed in open lanes only. They will be seeded with a NT and no additional heats will be created. After this time, the swimmers are added to an event at the sole discretion of the referee. Late Entries will be accommodated on a “first come-first serve” basis. (*Double fees will apply and must be paid at the time of entry. See “Entry Fees” for costs per event.) Coaches should complete an “Event Add” form and submit it to the Clerk of Course with payment.

SCRATCH RULE: / This meet will follow USA Swimming procedures specified in rule 207.11.6 except where exceptions are stated.
Swimmers who do not intend to swim an event, or must scratch down to the three events per day limit, or need to make room for a time trial should scratch by the indicated deadline. Scratch cards should be completed and deposited in the scratch box at Clerk of Course by the appropriate deadline. While there will be no penalty for failure to compete in preliminary heats of events 200M or less, swimmers and coaches should remember that late entries will only be accepted for empty lanes. We therefore ask all coaches to declare any scratches to the Clerk of Course before the deadlines to insure full heats and the best competition opportunities possible for all athletes.
A positive check in, located at Clerk of Course, will be required for these events. Swimmers and relay teams who do not positively check in may not be seeded in the event. Refer to the Scratch and Positive Check-In Schedule:

SCRATCH PENALTIES / According to the scratch rule, a swimmer who is properly checked in for a positive check in event, been seeded, and fails to compete in said event, shall be barred from his/her next individual event unless excused by the Meet Referee. There is no penalty for failure to compete in pre-seeded preliminary heats of individual events except that an individual event from which a swimmer has not scratched prior to the appropriate deadline will be counted toward that swimmer’s three events per day limit. There is no penalty for failure to compete in relay events.
A swimmer qualifying for an A, B, C, or D Final who neither scratches with the Administrative Referee nor declares his intent to scratch within 30 minutes after the announcement of qualifiers for that event is considered checked in. If a checked in swimmer fails to compete in Finals, he shall be barred from further competition unless excused by the Meet Referee. In order to field full Finals heats, it is requested that swimmers who qualify in the top 50 and have no intention of swimming in Finals indicate this by scratching.
PSYCH SHEET: / A Preliminary Psych Sheet for verification purposes will be posted on the website ( on Friday, February 27, 2015. Any corrections must be emailed to the meet director by 9:00 PM on Monday, March 2, 2015. No further corrections will be accepted.
USA SWIMMING MEMBERSHIP: / No entries will be accepted without USA-S numbers. Each club is responsible for the proper registration of its swimmers and coaches. The person completing and signing the entry form accepts all responsibility for proper USA-Swimming numbers/registrations with USA-S. Each coach attending the meet must be listed on the entry form. All coaches must be members of USA-S and must meet current USA-S safety training requirements. All officials other than timers must be members of USA-S. If a swimmer attends the meet without a coach, he or she must arrange to be supervised by a USA-S member coach from another team.
PROOF OF TIMES: / Swimmers who enter with times not in the USA Swimming SWIMS database and fail to achieve the applicable Southern Zone Eastern Sectional time standard in any event during the meet must provide proof-of-time. Only official results from USA-S sanctioned or approved competitions are acceptable and times must have been achieved since July 11, 2013. The Proof of Times Chairman will send each club a list of swimmers who failed to achieve qualifying standards within 30 days of the meet’s conclusion. If no proof is provided, the swimmer with be fined $25.00 per event. Fines unpaid by May 1, 2015 will be doubled to $50.00. Neither the swimmer nor his team will be eligible to enter future Sectional meets until said fine is paid in full. All fines collected will be contributed to the Eastern Section Southern Zone Travel Fund.
TIME TRIALS: / Time Trials will be offered after all Preliminary and Finals sessions, time permitting, and at the discretion of the Meet Referee. Time Trials count toward a swimmer’s three events per day event limit. Relay only swimmers are not eligible to swim time trials.
Sign up deadlines on days when Time Trials are offered will be 10:30 AM for Time Trials after Preliminaries and 6:00 PM for Time Trials after Finals. The 1650 and 500 Frees may be Time Trialed after one Preliminary session to be determined by the Meet Referee and announced at the General Meeting.
The order in which time trial events will be conducted will follow National event order (e.g., that day’s events, followed by next day, etc., finishing up with the previous day’s events). The 1650, 1000 and 500 Freestyle will be the last event swum on the day they are offered.
Time Trial fees are $10.00 per individual event and $20.00 for relays payable in cash at sign up. Swimmers must provide their own timers and counters for Time Trials. Time Trials will begin no later than 15 minutes after the session conclusion.

SCORING AND AWARDS: / Team awards will be presented to the top 6 teams combined. High point awards will be given to the top female and male swimmers. Medals will be awarded to the top eight (8) swimmers in each individual event and the top three (3) relays in each relay event.

READY ROOM: / The top eight (8) qualifiers for finals are invited to report to the ready room five (5) minutes prior to their event to be paraded to the blocks.
WARM-UPS: / In accordance with USA Swimming guidelines, there will be a published warm-up procedure for all swimmers and coaches attending the meet. The Marshall will ensure all teams, coaches, and swimmers follow all warm-up procedures. Meet Management reserves the right to change warm-up times according to the number of entries. During the competition, there will be lanes available for continuous warm-up/down (if available). There is to be no diving or horseplay in this area.
RACING STARTS: / Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.
COACH AND OFFICIAL CHECK-IN: / All coaches on deck must be registered and certified with USA Swimming. Meet Management will require all coaches to show proof of certification/registration and shall prominently display their registration cards at all times while on deck. Meet Management requests that at least one coach representative from each team attend all coaches meetings.
GENERAL MEETING: / There will be a mandatory General Meeting at 5:45 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 in Hospitality. Other meetings may be announced and held at the Meet Referee’s discretion. Meet Management requests that at least one coach representative from each team attend all coaches meetings.
All teams must provide a list of all coaches attending this meet by the entry deadline along with their team entries. Coaches must wear their registration card at all times on the deck.
OFFICIALS: / National Officials Evaluations: This meet has been approved as an Officials Qualifying Meet (N2/N3 all positions) by USA Swimming. Officials wishing to be evaluated may submit an application to the Meet Referee. Evaluation requirements can be found at
NC Swimming welcomes all officials and encourages all to support any session(s) for which they are available. Any certified USA-S official currently registered for 2015 interested in participating should complete an application on the SZ Swimming website. All officials must wear current USA Swimming registration card while on deck and present current certification card at check-in. Officials without proper credentials will not be allowed on deck. The uniform for all sessions is white Polo shirt, navy slacks and white shoes (no crocks). Any officials who would like specific deck assignments are asked to contact the Meet Referee or submit their request via an application as noted above.
MEET COMMITTEE: / A meet committee will be formed at the General Meeting. This committee will consist of two coaches, two swimmers, the Meet Referee, the Meet Director, and the Eastern Section Southern Zone Chairman.
