THE EGGERZUM 2009 BREAKS VISITOR RECORDS

The decor and design trends presented during the EGGER in-house exhibition were confirmed at the most important furniture fair in Milan.

Under the motto “Texture meets Colour” EGGER again presented this year current decor trends to 1,200 customers from 15 different countries at their EGGERZUM in-house exhibition in Brilon (DE), St. Johann in Tyrol (AT), Hexham (UK) and Shuya (RU). EGGER was very happy with the lively participation especially in the current economically turbulent times. The numerous industry customers and specialist dealers were able to return home with the certainty of having been unerringly presented with the latest trends for the current year by EGGER. This was also later confirmed at the most important international furniture fair “I Saloni” in Milan. EGGER therefore lives up to their reputation as a reliable partner in the selection of trend decors.

The in-house exhibition that took place this year for the 16th time broke all previous visitor records and EGGER recorded the largest response in the history of the EGGERZUM. In the first year of the exhibition in 1993, there were only current decor and design trends to be marvelled in Brilon (DE), EGGER was however able to lay the foundation for the successful ZOW Bad Salzuflen. Due to the high response, already in the second year the exhibition was also held at the parent plant in St. Johann in Tyrol (AT), and in the following years the locations Hexham (UK) and Shuya (RU) were added. “Our customers greatly appreciate that we provide them with the opportunity to select new decors in a quiet atmosphere. After all, the total design of new furniture programs later depends on this selection”, confirms Klaus Monhoff, head of decor management in the EGGER Group.

THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE TARGET GROUPS MOVED INTO THE CENTRE OF FOCUS

This year also EGGER offered their customers specific decor presentations, which address their desires and requirements. Therefore an especially intensive and interactive presentation of the trends was undertaken for the visitors from the furniture industry. “For us it is very important that we design the decor presentations interactively. The responses from the customers form the basis for us for future developments”, explains Verena Michels, interior architect in the decor management team.

For the numerous trade customers, the marketing department and the product management came up with a very special idea. Apart from the presentation of global decor and design trends the participants were able to gain experience in practice. On collages revolving around the theme “habitation” new decor combinations were able to be tried out with the innovations. “The opportunity to design directly with the decor innovations was very well received by our customers. Several visitors even took their ideas back home with them so they can use them later”, summarises Klaus Monhoff.

TEXTURE MEETS COLOUR ON ALL LEVELS

The exhibition motto “Texture meets Colour” was taken up in three respects in the presentations and was implemented in theory as well as in practice. On the one hand, the current combination of uni colours and wood decors was in the centre of focus. Uni colours create contrasts and enliven or calm the effect of different types of wood. On the other hand, with classic woods the independence was highlighted through glazes or liming. They thereby maintain their natural character, represent however modernity and creativity. In addition, EGGER directed the attention towards different surface structures. In future, wood and fantasy structures will revitalise the uni and pearlescent colours with their matt-glossy effects.

Innovations were able to convince

The innovations presented at the exhibition have this year again found wide appreciation amongst the customers. In addition to the wood decor series Avola Pine and Driftwood, the neutral colours as well as the pearlescent colours were convincing. But also new presentations in the classic wood segment such as Tauern Beech and Ontario Walnut can already be termed as being a success. With the worktop decors, Dakota Oak, Metallstone and Valetta count amongst the current favourites of the visitors. Parallel to this at the Milan furniture fair “I Saloni” it became apparent that the decor innovations from EGGER correspond with the current trend regarding the colour and material combinations. Dominant in Milan as well as at the EGGERZUM were the colours white and grey tones such as brown-grey and green-grey, but also intensive colours such as blackberry or copper orange were presented. The tendency towards certain colour and material worlds confirmed the EGGER motto “Texture meets Colour” as being trend-setting.

“Every customer would of course like to be optimally positioned with the new trends“, asserts Klaus Monhoff. “It is therefore very important for us that our estimations were confirmed in Milan.”
