JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: / In Memory Fundraiser (22.5hrs)
REPORTS TO: / Community Fundraising Manager
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
To be responsible for supporting individuals and groups fundraising in memory of loved ones, to deliver a target income of £540k in 2017/2018.
To manage, develop and evaluate a programme of In Memory fundraising products and activities, which currentlyincludes:
  • General In Memory fundraising, including funeral donations
  • Tribute funds
  • Memory Tree
  • Light up a Life event
To build awareness and income for the Hospice by managing and nurturing relationships with donors who are supporting the Hospice. Responsible for creating and stewarding Fundraising Groups, that are raising funds specifically in memory of a loved one.
To create and deliver an additional In Memory fundraising event or activity to engage supporters and raise in excess of £20k net income.
To provide excellent donor care to supporters, in order to develop productive and lasting relationships, inspiring supporters, both new and existing, to engage and raise funds for The Hospice of St Francis in memory of loved ones.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial
  • To plan and agree detail, including budgets and costings for In Memory events and activities with Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community & Events Fundraising.
  • To maximise income by engaging, managing and inspiring supporters.
  • To input into the team fundraising strategy, in accordance with the goals set by the Community Fundraising Manager and Head of Community & Events Fundraising, through the development of income from In Memory fundraising.
  • To set in place adequate controls to monitor progress, ensuring agreed income targets are met and potentially exceeded.
  • To ensure events, projects and activities run at the best possible ROI, as agreed with line manager.

Communication
  • To be the lead for all In Memory fundraising for the Hospice.
  • To be able to communicate empathetically and sensitively with bereaved supporters.
  • To develop an integrated In Memory programme across the Hospice, ensuring all staff and volunteers (clinical and non-clinical) are thoroughly briefed on In Memory giving and feel comfortable discussing it with possible donors. To identify donors who may benefit from the support of the SupportiveCare Team and refer them where appropriate.
  • To work with the Communications Team to ensure they produce timely media plans with the appropriate call to action for In Memory fundraising.
  • To confidently present the key messages of The Hospice of St Francis to individuals and groups to encourage them to support the Hospice, via a variety of media, informal conversations, presentations, written literature and website copy.
  • Implement a high level of donor care to maximise and encourage long-term support and look for opportunities to pass donors on to other fundraising teams or other parts of the Hospice, as appropriate, in order to secure their continued engagement.
  • To work closely, in a collaborative environment, with all Hospice team members, to identify In Memory donors, to maximiseincome for the Hospice and donor care.

Planning and Organisation
  • To lead on the research, development, creation, and implementation of successful In Memory Fundraising activity and productsto deliver agreed income targets, including on and offline tribute funds as well as our Memory Tree.Ensure all In Memory fundraising is strategically planned in terms of clear objectives, activity, time, marketing, PR and donor care plans, including post event evaluations. Ensure all plans and marketing materials are signed off with the management team, and all agreed with key stakeholders.
  • To produce copy for, and lead in the development of, any promotional materials required within the agreed budget, including website and newsletters.
  • To work effectively with and manage volunteers and resources for all In Memory fundraising activities to maximise reach and fundraising potential.
  • To carry out detailed risk assessments to ensure that all In Memory fundraising activities organised meet the required health and safety legislation at all times.
  • To use Donorflex, the fundraising database, to effectively administer and manage fundraising activities, in conjunction with the Database Manager. To ensure all new initiatives are linked to the existing database and processes where appropriate.

Research, monitoring and reporting
  • To carry out analysis and profiling of our In Memory supporters and activities to inform future fundraising strategy and budgets.
  • To develop networks of support with other hospices and charities in order to learn from others, share our learning and benchmark our performance.
  • Ensure all In Memory activities are conducted within the agreed budget and manage all costs
  • Produce post-event evaluations and future recommendations for all activities in line with the agreed minimum requirements.
  • To produce a monthly report of activity and outcomes for Community Fundraising Manager.
  • Work to agreed objectives and attend regular performance review meetings.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work some weekends and evenings.
  • A team player; working together on projects and events in the wider fundraising team(Time off in Lieu will be given where appropriate and pre-agreed.)

This Job Description can be amended by agreement with Post Holder and Manager.
