02(Prins/Krause) Motion to approve Minutes of the December 17, 2008, Regular Meeting.

HONORS & TRIBUTES

The Board honored the Branford High School Physics Teams, placing first among 50 teams from three neighboring states in two out of six events at the October 18, 2008 Yale University Physics Olympics (Stephanie Altrui, Cole Freeman, Greg Harrington, Michael Fowler, Michael Merrill, Scott Berges, James Sharretto, Matthew Schell, and Richard Beski).

PRESENTATION

Clint Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer, and Cathyann Roding, BHS Music Teacher, gave a presentation on 21st Century Learning podcasting, which is a great way for children to learn at home.

James Finch, Finance Director for the Town of Branford, presented the grim state of the Town’s finances.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. Halligan reported that all children were given the chance to watch the inauguration; Lee Fitzgibbons, Grade 3 teacher at Mary R. Tisko School, was named WalMart Teacher of the Year; the Leadership Team has been conducting walkthroughs.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES’ REPORT

Taryn Mockus and Jenna Grande reported on trips to colleges, girls and boys track team activities, and the start of mid-terms.

05First reading of Policy No. 5141.21 Administration of Medication was sent back to committee.
