a) What did you like most about the conference?
all good/round table discussion/the guest speaker/speaker; contacts; ESL \LBS Interface/chatting with other council members;
sharing info/keynote speaker was very inspirational/special speaker Friday night – OUTSTANDING/location; presentation/
workshop variety/Mind Your Own Busy-Ness workshop/the workshops – the presenters were great/treasure hunt; round
tables/treasure hunt; round tables/keynote speaker was awesome; connecting with people that I don’t see often/the guest
speaker after dinner was amazing – great choice, such an inspiration/guest speaker; networking; hearing concerns &
celebrations; round tables/students talking more and more – are talking about literacy/workshops/friendly atmosphere/the
food/meeting people from different places/all the workshops/ESL workshop/apprenticeship workshop/classes were very
informative; meals were great/the speaker/getting to meet and discuss what is happening with everyone; seeing old friends;
learning new things; food was excellent; considering no funding - excellent job/everything; meeting new people/candle light
dinner; dance; meeting new people/keynote speaker; workshop on stress/everything was perfectly organized/the guest speaker/
A Tisket, A Tasket workshop - OALCF was explained very well/guest speaker was phenomenal; student subsidy/the
workshops/the people/location/everything/good workshops/I like it all/having a chance to converse with other practitioners
about OALCF - challenges and solutions and troubleshooting/the workshops/workshop with Greg Smith - FANTASTIC; food was
great too/speaker; F3 workshop;F6 workshop/speaker/nice location/All About Apps with Monika & Moodle/workshop selection -
very timely meeting my needs and interests (ie: ESL & LBS, apprenticeships, role tables)/treasure hunt/loved the pizza, salad &
veggie lunch & healthy too
b) What did you like least?
OALCF Online modules workshop/roast beef was terrible/having to leave early Saturday; missing last class/volunteers should be
allowed to go to all seminars/accommodations/student “open mike” poorly attended; just one day/student open mike very poorly
attended/the rain/being my first time here it was a little confusing; a bit more direction for the newcomers/beds; incorrect on
some info pages/rain/no one on campus seemed to know what was happening; signage could have been better/the fire drill
shortened the workshop/when it was time to go/rain – next time can you provide rainbows? J/rain; roast beef/rocking chair in
my room/in the future if there are student elections for the student representative the nominees should get a chance to go over
the voting process/the rain/having to speak/lunch/no internet or not really working for presenter/trying to find the
workshops/directions to the workshops/workshop directions/roast beef

e) Suggestions for next conference:
continue round table discussions/better networking opportunities/more instruction and background information for
newcomers/be able to attend all sessions/continue to get excellent presenters/every other year conference - more funding if
possible/every second year more funding/try and make workshops more engaging and encourage more interaction among
organizations/volunteer staff at check-in should be better informed and be able to answer questions, maybe a checklist to make
sure they give all the information at check-in…while the info in the participant handbook was helpful it would not help the
learners/longer/voice assisted technology as in books that are read to you; Skype connections, etc…/no karaoke/North Bay/more
workshops for students/hire interpreters for workshop, contact Deaf Literacy Initiatives; more hands on like ‘task-based iPad and
OALCF Assessment/hold conference in the fall so that all the great ideas we get and the inspiration can be put to good use
immediately after the conference as no summer break to come/more student workshops
f) Other comments:
thank you/proofread for errors in times etc..; have a Bristol board or poster size workshop schedule posted in strategic locations
so people know what is going on and where and what time. ie: by the registration desk at the banquet hall, etc…/great job…thank
you for all the work you do/thank you to all of you/thank you/Please check schedules for proper information/very warm and
friendly; staff made me feel at home…thanks to all the staff/THANK YOU/well done LLO staff/thank you/I really liked the 2 day
format/thank you
