Physics is the study of the physical universe. Physicists seek to explain how the universe functions from the subatomic to the astronomic levels. This course is a college level physics course that uses Calculus as its language.

You will need your assigned textbook, pen/pencil, paper and a calculator everyday. There will be other items needed on an occasional basis with a prior announcement made for these items.

The teacher and all students will at all times actively promote a positive, safe, learning environment for all and be actively engaged in the learning process. Life is not a spectator sport; neither is school. You are expected to be participating fully and positively in all class activities. Electronic devices such as cell phones, CD players, MP3 players, I-pods etc. are unnecessary distractions that should not be used during class time unless authorized by the instructor for research or data collection opportunities and may result in confiscationas directed within the school policies.

Your grade will be based:40% on assignments, 40% on tests and quizzes, 20% on labs, projects, and notes. You will have class work, homework, laboratory assignments, projects, tests and quizzes. Grades will be assigned based on the following percentage scale.

100.00 – 93.00 A / 89.99 – 87.00 B+ / 79.99 – 77.00 C+ / 69.99 – 67.00 D+ / Below 60.00 F
92.99 – 90.00 A- / 86.99 – 83.00 B / 76.99 – 73.00 C / 66.99 – 63.00 D
82.99 – 80.00 B- / 72.99 – 70.00 C- / 62.99 – 60.00 D-

Late work will be accepted at the teacher’s discretionary penalty. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get any assignments and complete them on time. If assistance is needed, it is the responsibility of the students to discuss such needs with the instructor. For multiple day absences, see the instructor or refer to the school’s vacation policy for time frames regarding due dates and acceptable due dates.

Your grade is also based on attendance, punctuality, and honesty. Roll will be taken at the beginning of each class period. You are expected to attend every class session. Choosing not to attend is choosing to fail.Students who are tardy more any twice in a term may also lose participation points through their assignments points each class period. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Cheating will default scores to an automatic zero. You are expected to conduct yourself at all times in a manner consistent with the guidelines and policies of the school.
