Local donors help Grinnell United Way achieve $130,000 fundraising goal

Grinnell United Way announced that it succeeded in meeting its 2013 fundraising goal of $130,000.

“On behalf of the Grinnell United Way board and our 15 local partner agencies, I thank our donors for their generous support,” said Grinnell United Way board president, Bob Mann. “Their financial contributions help us in fulfilling our mission to advance the common good in Grinnell by enhancing the three key building blocks of education, income, and health.”

Grinnell United Way received support from an array of individuals and businesses in Grinnell. Major employers including Alliant Energy, Grinnell College, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Jeld-Wen, Mayflower Community, and University of Iowa Community Credit Union organized employee giving programs. Local residents including the local business community, professionals, entrepreneurs, and Grinnell-area citizens, all made contributions to help Grinnell United Way achieve its goal.

“Over 98% of every dollar donated supports programs in Grinnell. The local programs we fund have a combined budget of $1.4 million. Each dollar donors give supports $11 in services,” said Mann.

Donations to Grinnell United Way support local programs from the following non-profit organizations: American Red Cross, Iowa Rivers Chapter; Central Iowa Family Planning; Crisis Intervention Services; Davis Elementary School Fourth Grade Camp; Galaxy Inc. Youth Programs; Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa; Grinnell Community Daycare and Preschool; Grinnell Little League; Grinnell Ministerial Association Transient Fund; Grinnell Recreation Department; Heart of Iowa Big Brothers Big Sisters; Iowa Legal Aid; Mid-Iowa Community Action; People Rides; and Social Entrepreneurs of Grinnell.

Donors may designate gifts to one or more specific organizations.

Later this spring, Grinnell United Way will accept requests for funding for the 2014-15 grant year. Grinnell United Way has served the Grinnell community for over 40 years. To learn more about Grinnell United Way and to make a donation, visit http://grinnellunitedway.org.
