Minutes of the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild
November 3, 2016
In the absence of the president, Judy Fox, membership vice president, called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
The minutes of the October meeting was approved after a correction was made. Terry Welch is the chair for the Challenge Quilt instead of Becky Bryan.
We had 2 guests. One joined the guild after the meeting.
Memberships cards are ready. The new yearbook will be done this weekend. Please send all changes to Judy Fox.
Announcements:
2 extra glue tip packets are available for sale.
Donated pillowcases may be given to Cheri Quick and/or Susie Baldwin.
Waynesville quilt guild will have a show at the Community Center on November 19.
Treasurer report:
Martha reported that we have $2542.35 in checking and $13,493.95 in the savings account. We received $990 in cookbook sales and the cost of printing of the cookbooks was $1656.60.
Committee reports:
Karen’s 10,000 iniches. Marilyn reported that 3 quilts totaling 476 inches were donated in October, bringing the total of quilts to 69 and 11,177 inches to date.
Pillowcases for Russell House:Received 12 pillowcases today.
Winter challenge:Information has been or will be sent out by email.
UFOs:Donna Olson will accept any UFO entries.
Sit ‘N Sew:Availability of church facilities in November will be checked and reported by email.
Quilt show:Allison mentioned that the kick-off meeting was well attended. Loretta still needs a co-chair for the raffle sales. Dawn Winters will post items on FB. Admission ticket will be $5.00, with early sale to members of $4.00.
Library:No report
Retreat:Donna is accepting $50.00 deposit today. If you wish to have a roommate, please see her.
Cookbooks:Allison and Cindy have cookbooks for sale.
2nd hand Rose: Last sale before the quilt show. Total sales were $1376.68.
Programs:Cindy handed out information about the Christmas Party and the optional Gift Exchange. This year the optional gift exchange will have five items consisting of 1 yard of fabric or combination of it; a used book; a new or like new pattern; a snack item, chocolate or pie; and an additional item of your choice.
December meeting will be on December 1, doors will open at 5:30 for a potluck dinner.
January 14: Beginner’s class with Mary Wilkerson. Rail Fence at the Stitch Niche from 9-5.
February 4:Strip pieced Grandmother’s flower garden or Tumbling blocks with Martha Ethridge. A triangle ruler is needed.
April 8:Autumn Medallion with Joyce Darr
Today’s program is the quilt top auction. Repurposing vintage and other quilt tops. Total 24 were auctioned off and the sales made $631.50.
Show and Tell: 6 quilts showed their quilts.
