Job Description
Doctors Worldwide is a UK based charity involved with providing medical assistance to those in need around the world. The operational platform works on the basis of teaching and training support, as well as developing long-term strategies and partnerships to provide comprehensive medical relief. This position has been created to reflect the organisation's growing needs. You will have a key role in taking the organisation forward in the areas of generating greater unrestricted and restricted funding in order to enable further organisational and project development during an exciting and challenging time. You will be forming a funding strategy, including some aspects of marketing. However the main role will be to secure funding from individual and business donors.
Major Responsibilities:
· To help develop a fundraising and marketing strategy for the organisation.
· Generating new sources of income from a wide variety of donors, principally from new individual and business donors.
· Develop and maintain links with high net-worth individuals.
· Improve, develop and maintain links with other organisations (governmental, non-government, corporate and charitable alike).
· Develop and strengthen links within the health community and general public.
· Ensure donor management systems and procedures are in place so that all supporters receive appropriate feedback and thanks.
· Organising awareness and fundraising events.
· Assist in the design and production of the annual report, newsletters and all publicity material.
· Contribute to organisational decision making.
· Quarterly Finance reports for the review of the board.
· Enhance the professional image and credibility of Doctors Worldwide.
Person Specification
Essential:
· Proficient in English.
· At least 3 years experience of fundraising, particularly from individual and business donors.
· Sound understanding of the UK donor market.
· Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing fundraising and partnership strategies.
· Successful track record of previously identifying, cultivating and securing relationships with individual and institutional donors.
· Self-motivated, confident, and a good time-keeper.
· Enthusiastic and flexible work ethic, with willingness on exceptional occasions to work beyond expected duties in order to achieve organisational objectives, and adopt a holistic approach to their role within the organisation.
· Professional and friendly attitude with good interpersonal and team working skills.
· Good Information Technology skills.
· Excellent organisational skills
Desirable:
· Understanding of international development and health contexts.
· Good marketing skills.
· Good media skills.
