ROLE PROFILE

TITLE: Global Head of Supply Chain Planning
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Supply Chain / LOCATION: London. 25% travel
GRADE: TBC / CONTRACT LENGTH: 2 years, with the possibility of extension.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 2: the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; therefore a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
ROLE PURPOSE:
This position is a strategic management role in Save the Children’s (SC) supply chain function, which is responsible for the strategic and operational capability within the global team.
The role supports the strategic improvement of demand forecasting and planning of our supply chain requirements worldwide. This includes ensuring the effective implementation, at Centre, region and country level, of existing supply chain planning methodologies to deliver our outputs in support of Awards, Program and other teams. The role is also responsible for delivering continuous improvement, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, of our planning processes to maintain and improve efficiency, economy and effectiveness across all elements of the supply chain. This will involve the design and delivery of improvements in the people, systems, policies and procedures across the global supply chain organisation. It also includes working with the Humanitarian team in the development of forecast requirements, in collaboration with the Head of Emergency Supply Chain and based on the analysis of historical humanitarian responses.
The role will incorporate providing support to country programmes to improve their planning of supply requirements with a strong focus on building organisational capacity and cohesive, substantial relationships with regional teams in the context of a $2bn organisation operating in a rapidly-changing environment
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Role Dimensions: This role operates across whole Movement, SCI, Members & Partner Organisations. External focus with Corporate Teams & UN Agencies and selected forums.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
•  Ensure that supply chain leads at every level of the organisation are conversant with and meet their supply chain planning responsibilities both on the agreed periodic basis and in support of Country Office/Regional Office proposal activity.
•  Ensure transparency of forward supply requirements at program, country and regional level to provide a global perspective at the consolidated, aggregated level.
•  Consult internally with supply chain end-to-end leads as well as functional leads, to support full-spectrum planning and cross-functional coherence.
•  Consult with the London based stakeholder community (such as Awards, Programs, Finance, IT) to obtain relevant data and develop insights on, and drivers of, emerging demand.
•  Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
•  Review historical trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
•  Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated information.
•  Work with the Head of Emergency Supply Chain to help develop and implement forecasts and plans to be better able to respond to emergency responses moving forwards.
•  Lead the implementation of the Planning workstream within the Supply Chain Transformation Programme, coordinating with other relevant initiatives (e.g. Programme & Project Management transformation (PPM PRIME), Source2Pay, Sustainable Delivery Initiative) to achieve this.
•  Provide functional support to Centre, Regional and Country teams on planning, ensuring alignment with Supply Chain Transformation and wider organisational strategy.
•  Define and implement any systems changes required to improve the management of our planning activities. This will include working with the PPM PRIME project team and other such teams to define requirements and assess solution options to deliver against these requirements.
•  Design, develop and implement all relevant planning related standards, policies and procedures.
•  Prepare reports/statistics related to the demand planning and forecasting function.
•  Ensure all key performance indicators are aligned to best practices in planning to deliver a global perspective that is coherent and accurate.
•  Develop and maintain a supply chain planning risk management plan (RMP), supporting the identification, assessment, and prioritisation of risks. The RMP should ensure the coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and mitigate the probability or impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities.
•  Identify and support the creation of learning and development programmes for building capacity in the management of our planning activities. Develop a culture of continuous learning where staff are encouraged and supported to grow and develop and are willing to be held accountable for their commitments.

QUALIFICATIONS
·  Bachelor Degree or equivalent relevant experience, in Business, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Forecasting and Planning, with relevant technical experience at managerial level.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
•  Experience at the leadership level of delivering supply chain capability in global, multicultural organisations – whether public, private or charity sector.
•  Experience in all technical areas of planning and forecasting, including the use of appropriate tools.
•  Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally with a flexible yet stabilising attitude.
•  Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, with the ability to engage and influence, and work collaboratively in a matrix and culturally diverse environment
