Position ThrueeApril 19xx to February 19xx
Project Leader, Database/Server Architect, Consultant (1996-1999)

Worked as a member of diverse international teams for over six years. Facilitated interaction of team members by providing training, advice and guidance. Overcame obstacles often associated with the differences in cultural semantics and customs. Gained valuable experience in product development and management of small cohesive groups situated at different locations throughout USA and Latin America.

Selected by senior management as a project lead, technical developer and architect for the Internet based ABC DOMAIN project. DOMAIN is the first successful product to replace the strategic legacy system BIGSYS. This twenty member international team produced the first release in less than 18 months and $3 million dollars, beating a simultaneous corporate initiative of 50 to 75 members, 3 years, and more than $20 million dollars. Our team won the "1999 ABC Award and the 1998 ABC Gold Chairman Award." DOMAIN WEB browsers boast an average response time of 1.5 seconds with a 1.1 second standard deviation while accessing a database with more than 125 million rows and 100 GB of raw data.

Responsible for UNIX server design, architecture, and implementation. Reduced, consolidated, and optimized original OO design of 750+ classes into 300+. Extensive involvement in C++ code development of the middle transport and database persistence layers of the project. Sole data architect/modeler of this project. Implemented code generators and LEX/YACC parsers to expedite development process. Resulting WEB based product is dynamically driven and configured by metadata. Trained and transferred knowledge to full-time staff. Participated in next generation product designs utilizing CORBA, JAVA, and XML to replace proprietary GTE software components and structures.

Database/Server Architect, Consultant (1995-1996)

Sole data architect/modeler of the Telecommunication Managed Information Based (TMIB) paradigm. This proprietary object transport and persistence methodology was developed to address the deficiencies with CORBA 1.0, and the lack of efficient object to relational mappings in mainstream RDBMS products. An extensible CORBA-like Interface Definition Language (IDL) and a generic metadata model was devised to expedite development process and product maintainability.

Extensive involvement in C++ code development of all server side code layers and code generators. Devised and implemented the Telecommunication Query Language (TQL) for object retrieval using C/C++/LEX/YACC. TQL facilitated the complex task of object projection, traversal, selection, and aggregation and is metadata driven.

Actively devised, simplified, and initiated standards to improve development, quality assurance, disaster recovery, and change management methods. Constructed procedures to improve efficiency of processes, built data warehouse models to track TQM continuous improvement statistics, utilized profiling and source code repository tools.

Project Leader, Database and User Interface Engineer, Consultant (1994-1995)

Technical project lead, database and user interface engineer of the Telecommunication Mediation Device (TOM) project. The first release of TOM was completed in less than five months with five people, under budget and ahead of schedule winning the “1995 ABC Warner Award” for strategic importance. It replaces an inferior and expensive AT&T product. TOM systems handle more than 10 million transactions and 4 GB of raw data daily, and are now deployed in the Caribbean, Venezuela, Argentina, and the United States.

Position Five 1998 to 1999
Technical Consultant

Assisted IT department in the formal definition of administration and disaster recovery procedures. Provided support in the migration strategy from Informix 7.1x to 7.3, AIX 4.1.4 to AIX 4.3, and IBM R50 to S70. Evaluated site operations and performed hardware, OS, and database tuning that increased efficiency by 400 percent. Developed batch-polling process to assist A/P automation, and assisted in several emergency support/recovery situations. Site is accessed by 500 concurrent users.

Position Six 1998 to 1999
Technical Venture Capital Auditor, Consultant

Contracted by ABC’s affiliate, The Big Group, to perform full technical and staff audits of companies seeking second and third rounds of venture capital financing. Thorough and concise reports enabled VC partners to quickly evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of potential products. A 1998 audit resulted in a $10 million dollar offer to be extended to a Boston health care integration company. In 1999, an audit of a Boston firm that specializes in pharmaceutical research analysis tools resulted in the closing of a $6 million dollar offer.

Position Seven 1993 to 1994
Project Leader, Database/Application Analyst, Consultant

Responsible for stabilizing and deploying a product to improve the HMO operations of Blue Cross Blue Shield. Constructed the data model and the development standards, encouraged the improvement of the system administration practices, and was directly responsible for the migration and cleansing of twelve independent data environments. The PNS “Dial-a-Doc” system has 300 concurrent users.

Position Eight 1993
Database Developer/Analyst, Consultant

Member of a large Operations Research team that automated the railroad scheduling process. Improved the overall performance of the mathematical optimization models. This project improves ABC’s efficiency and profitability because it optimizes within one hour, the scheduling of 1800 locomotives, 25000 freight cars, and 10000 employees.
