Obedience, Rally Obedience & Showmanship

What is the 4-H Dog Training Program? Wabasha County 4-H Dog Training is a dog obedience, showmanship, and rally obedience program in the spring/summer for youth and their dogs! The training is taught by 4-H Adult Volunteers who have expertise with dog training. Through 4-H Dog Training, participants will learn basic dog obedience skills and will get to teach their own dog’s first-hand! Participants will learn to communicate with their dogs, respect each other and work together as a team, and will learn responsible dog ownership. Training will also cover care of dogs, feeding, dog facts, dos and don’ts, and much more! Best of all, participants will learn how to develop a positive relationship with their own dogs! At the end of the summer, participants will demonstrate what they’ve learned at the 4-H County Dog Show while being evaluated by a judge.

Who:Youth in Grades K-13, non 4-Hers are welcome! Cloverbuds (grades K-2) must have a responsible person in control of leading the dog at all times

Mondays, beginning May 14 -July 23

(No Class May 28, June 11 & July 2)

TIME: 1st year youth will meet at 5:30 pm

2nd year and above youth will meet at 6:30 pm

May 7:Deadline - Dog Registrations Forms due to the Extension Office

May 7th: Obedience, Rally Obedience and Showmanshiptraining begins and continues every Monday at Best For Pets

July 27th: Goodhue & Wabasha County 4-H Dog Agility Show at Best for Pets in Zumbro Falls at 6:00 p.m.

July 28: Goodhue & Wabasha County 4-H Dog Showmanship, Obedience, and Rally Obedience Show at Goodhue County Fairgrounds at 8:00 a.m. (plan for all day)

Sept.22-23: State 4-H Dog Show, State 4-H Building, State Fairgrounds, St. Paul
