What is the Online Directory?

The directory is an online resource for finding information on designer-makers in Northern Ireland.The Directory is intended to be of use to the general public and those seeking further information on NI designer-makers and their craft work

To be selected for the Directory, your application will be considered against the Craft NI quality criteria, as follows:

Quality

Quality is the key characteristic of all practice that Craft NI supports. By this, Craft Northern Ireland means contemporary work that:

  • Is challenging and extending practice as well as ensuring highstandards of technical skill and design;
  • Does not seek to reproduce or restore but is innovative in its use ofmaterials and aesthetic vision;
  • Reflects the signature of the individual maker and demonstrates investigation of processes and critical enquiry at a high level.

Image Submission

IMAGE QUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT IN YOUR DIRECTORY APPLICATION

  • Images submitted need to be of professional quality to showcase your products and skills. For guidance, please look to the standard of images currently live on the Directory.
  • It is recommended to supply product style shots on a neutral background where appropriate.
  • Include no more than 6 images of your work. Images should be high-resolution, and a quality representation of the work you produce, however, do not submit images over 1MB in size
  • Please provide images in a square format
  • Please include the following details: name of the product for each image, and include materials and photography credit where appropriate
  • Please note that by providing images you are giving permission for Craft NI to use them for promotional purposes
  • Applications made including images of poor quality may not be considered
