Role: Digital Coordinator / Home Team: Digital Transformation TeamPurpose of role:
To deliver, maintain and develop effective design, technical development and co-ordination to Friends of the Earth’s digital properties and digital transformation. / Reports to: Digital Transformation Team Leader

Deliver outcomes:
Develop, originate, produce and editvisuals and content for Friends of the Earth’s digital properties.
Ensure Friends of the Earth’s digital properties, through working with relevant stakeholders, meet high technical, written and visual standards, have correct content, are timely, relevant to audiences and responsive to feedback.
Recommend, produce, test and deliver front-enddevelopments and improvements in digital in the light of analysis of trends, testing, user feedback and developments in the field.
Troubleshootuser needs and provide technical and creative CMS support.
Ensure and help develop (in conjunction with relevant stakeholders) and then maintain Friends of the Earth’s guidance and related training materials for digital properties and ensure staff are able to use these.
Responsible to do the tasks they agree to take from relevant activity teams and home team, balancing their work between work arising from the project and other work and to prioritise effectively and to work together with other project team members to bring their experience to bear on the common objective in accordance with Project Management Guidelines.
Gather relevant data for reporting on relevant organisational KPIs. Assist in analysis and production of reports.
Project Management: Take responsibility for delivering the project objective for projects of larger scope that may involve a project team from across departments or external organisations acting as manager to the members of the project team with respect to project work and ensuring planning, budgeting, monitoring, communications and reporting on the project in accordance with Project Management Guidelines.
Develop others:
Produce and execute training/support material to enable digital first transformation in teams and individuals. Also support others to do the same eg digital property coordinators.
Support less experienced team members.
Recruit volunteers including intern or placement students, government-sponsored trainee schemes; train, supervise and review their work.
May have delegated authority for allocating and managing the work of other staff or consultants.
Build relationships:
Provide advice to and liaise with Friends of the Earth colleagues on the development and maintenance of their digitalcontent in line with Friends of the Earth’s style guides.
Be able to advocate for Digital first transformation.
Gather and represent internal and external user priorities to the Digital transformation team and more widely.
Ideas and solutions:
Demonstrate problem solving capabilities in order to come up with solutions to technical and non-technical problems, and to manage own workload. / Expertise:
Needs to have:
Proven experience in producing user-centred web and digital designs.
Working knowledge of UX, accessibility and technical best practice.
Knowledge and experience of front-end development and designusing the latest coding standards, eg HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
Working knowledge of current production software, e.g. general version control (Git, Bitbucket, pull requests), Vagrant, VM.
Able to troubleshoot and make minor fixes to Drupal CMS. Knowledge of PHPa distinct advantage.
Track record inproducing high quality and impactful material for digital properties such as video, text, and images.
Knowledge of digital image software, formats and processing – working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator.
Proven ability in managing competing demands and project team working.
Demonstrable understanding of digital ways of working including Agile, Scrum, Lean start up techniques and MVP.
Knowledge of different teaching styles and techniques to maximise learning outcomes.
Project management: use of project management methodologies – specifically Agile – and ideally having played multiple roles in project team.

Using technical and design knowledge to produce digital content, properties and tools.
Using technical knowledge to improve the systems used to enable others to produce, monitor and administrate digital content.
Help others to get the best out of digital through training, and ways of working improvements. For external users, this is demonstrated by a continuing commitment to best practice in UX, developing audience knowledge and user testing.
Focus of development:
Developing technical, design, writing and editing skills in the context of Friends of the Earth’s work and house style.
Acquiring familiarity with Friends of the Earth’s external message priorities and style of communicating.
Building knowledge of different learning styles, tools and techniques.

Other essential requirements for the role-holder:
Able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends when out of hours support or maintenance is essential. Free and willing to travel occasionally within the UK to carry out work at regional offices,and for organisational away days and other events of organisational importance (this may involve overnight stays).
