LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €20,000 which was drawn on 06/04/2017. The numbers drawn were 8, 13, 17, 20.

Our jackpot has now reached its maximum allowed limit of €20,000 and will remain at this level until some lucky winner carries off the Big prize.

Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.

Cards: The 45 Drive takes place every Thursday at 9:00.

Dancing: Set Dancing takes place in the clubhouse every Thursday. Beginners 7 to 7.45, Advanced 7.45 to 9.00. No partner needed, all welcome.

Mizen to Malin Cycle. Milford & Monaleen Cycling Club is a group of cycling enthusiasts of varying ages most of whom are also involved with the GAA club. They are organising a Mizen Head to Malin Head cycle over the 4 days of the June Bank Holiday weekend, Friday 2ndto Monday 5thJune.The main beneficiary will be Milford Hospice but a portion of the funds raised will also go to the Development fund in the GAA club. SENIOR CLUB NEWS.

Results

·  Senior Hurling. We were beaten by Ballybrown in the second round of the County Hurling League.

·  Senior Football. The footballers beat St Patricks in the City Football Championship in Peafield on Saturday. Monaleen 1-16, St Patricks 1-09

·  Junior Football. The juniors started their League campaign with a draw against Crecora. Monaleen 2-09, Crecora 2-09

· 

Fixtures

·  Senior Hurling. We travel to play Doon in the Senior League on Tuesday at 6:30.

·  Junior Football. The Juniors are at home to Kildimo on Thursday in Peafield at 7:00

·  Minor Football. We play the first match of the Championship when we play Galbally in Peafield on Friday at 6:30.

JUVENILE CLUB NEWS

Results

·  U15 Hurling. We had a good win against Murroe-Boher in the first round of the League.

Fixtures

·  U16 Hurling. We play the first round of the championship against Bruff in Peafield on Monday at 6:15.

·  U15 Football. We are away to St. Patricks on Wednesday at 6:15

·  U14 Hurling. We play the semi-final of the County Feile na nGael on Sunday in South Liberties at 11:00 when we play CoisLaoi Gaels.

U12 Hurling. Congratulations to Muiris O'Dalaigh who last Saturday won the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Poc Fada for 2017. Muiris was up against 24 kids representing clubs throughout the county but he reigned supreme with the longest Poc of the night.

The team play their first match of the season this coming Tuesday against Bruff

Training Times:

Juvenile Training will be moving back to the pitches in the next few weeks so look out for communication from the coaches as to the times and venues.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

·  U12 Camogie. Well done to the U12s that played 2 great matches this morning against Newcastle West & Kilmallock in Kileedy.The Monaleen girls showed lots of skill & played with great determination in both matches. Very good ground hurling & strong tackling laid the foundation for comfortable wins in both matches.

·  Our first U14 League match was at home to Knockaderry on Tuesday 28th. A one- sided affair where our girls proved way too strong for the opposition. Final score Monaleen 10-10 Knockaderry 2-1

On Tuesday, we had our second U14 match which the girls won after a strong performance. Final score Croagh Kilfinny 1-0 Monaleen 6-10

With Ahane our opponents on this Tuesday the girls will face a stiffer test.

·  Our U16s travelled to Effin for their first League fixture against Blackrock-Effin. This was a very exciting contest with some great scores on both sides. Trailing by 3-3 to 3-2 at half time Monaleen fell further behind by the mid-point of the 2nd half. The final 1-3 of the game was scored by Monaleen’s Emma Donohoe but despite dominating the final period our girls finished 2 points behind. Final Score Monaleen 4-6 Blackrock-Effin 4-8.

LADIES FOTBALL NEWS

·  U12 Girls Football. Well done to the girls on their performance against Ahane on Friday evening. Another huge turnout with 25 girls togged out in red & white. Not easy to get everyone much game time with such numbers but everyone got a run out and we won a very close game by 2-03 to 2-02 playing some very good football along the way.

·  Registration is now due for current season which runs from September 2016 to September 2017 for underage players. New players are welcome to join at any stage.

·  Volunteers are required to help out at training sessions for all our girl’s football groups. Please contact your child/children’s coach if you can assist.

Training Times:

·  Training for all underage teams starts again from Sunday 5thFebruary 2017. Keep an eye on What’s App group for final confirmation of training times and locations.

·  Lights for the New Courts: A planning application has been submitted. We await news.

·  Courts can be booked on the sheets at the noticeboard on the bottom court. Tokens can be purchased in the bar [1 token is €3 and lasts for 45 minutes].
