Organizational History:

C. G. Conn Ltd. manufactured the highest grade musical instruments, which were “used and endorsed by all the great soloists and bandmasters in America and awarded gold medals, highest diplomas and the greatest honors of all American expositions.” The company was located in Elkhart, Indiana. In 1921, the president and treasurer was C. D. Greenleaf, and the secretary was J. F. Boyer. There is a small photo of the founder, C. G. Conn.

Scope and Content:

This collection contains one letter and one envelope from the C. G. Conn Ltd. Musical instrument manufacturer in Elkhart. The letter is addressed to Mr. Ross E. Moore, Hutsonville, Illinois, and has no personal signature. It is stamped “C. G. Conn, Ltd.” The company employee enclosed the price list for cases, as Mr. Moore had requested. This price list is not included in this collection. On the back of the letter are photos of band leaders including several women. In the center, it states: “The supreme excellence of the band and orchestra instrument made by C. G. Conn Ltd., Elkhart, Indiana, is recognized by the world’s greatest bandmasters. They are used exclusively by all famous virtuosos and soloists. Their superior qualities are known in all parts of the world where good music abounds.”

On the envelope, there is an engraving of the manufacturing plant, and the statement: “Every instrument manufactured by C. G. Conn Ltd. is guaranteed for five years.”
