PERMISSION NOTES

CHILD PROTECTION LESSONS

Child Protection lessons are part of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education curriculum. These lessons help children identify dangerous or uncomfortable situations and to seek help from trustworthy adults. The lessons may involve the teaching of HIV/AIDS and the naming of parts of the body. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

I give permission for my child to participate in Child Protection Lessons. I am aware that this permission note will last for the duration of my child’s schooling at Nana Glen Public School. If I wish my child to cease participating in the lessons, I will notify the school in writing.

ORARA VALLEY COMMUNITY POOL SWIMMING FOR SPORT TERM 1 AND TERM 4

Our swimming for sport program consists of water safety techniques from remaining afloat and reaching safety to performing basic rescues. Children who are proficient enough will be able to master their stroke technique and practice this while doing “squad” training. All children will be able to participate in this program. The permission note below needs to be signed and returned to school to allow your child to attend the swimming pool and swimming for sport program.

Children who do not have permission will still attend the pool and sit in the shade as sport will be done in class groups. We would like some parent volunteers to assist us especially for Kinder and Yr 1/2. It is advisable that children wear goggles and these may be purchased from the pool.

I/we give permission for my/our child to participate in the swimming for sport program at the Orara Valley Community Pool. A separate note for each child is required.

CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are always needed for one of our school’s major fundraisers, the Nana Glen School Canteen. The canteen used to run on Mondays and Fridays but due to a shortage in volunteers we are currently only opened on Fridays. If we get enough support we will review this decision and advise accordingly.

Canteen volunteers are needed to assist with meal preparation / lunch order assembly and customer service in the canteen on Fridays between 9.30am – 2pm once or twice a term. These volunteers usually cook on the day they are physically in canteen as well and supply 30 pieces of colour & artificial flavour free cakes/slices/muffins/savoury items etc to sell at morning tea.

The canteen also needs Canteen Cooks, so if you are physically unable to help out in the canteen this is a great way to help out the school and its kids. These volunteers usually cook and supply 30 pieces of colour & artificial flavor free cakes/slices/muffins/savoury items etc to sell at morning tea. The canteen cooks are asked to drop the food items for sale off no later than 10am on the day they are rostered, in plenty of time for recess at 11am.

We need about 30 volunteers to help and / or cook for the canteen to run. We really would appreciate your help if you can find the time to do it. It is a great way of showing your child / children how much you care about their school as well! It’s also a nice way to meet nice people!
