Clinic KnowledgeNOW Lead

12 month contract (with possibility of a 2 year extension)

The Association of Community Legal Clinics of Ontario (ACLCO) is seeking a dynamic, self directed, results-oriented individual to implement a custom designed knowledge management strategy with the 77 clinics that make up the community legal system in Ontario.

The KnowledgeNOW Lead will be responsible for fostering a knowledge-sharing culture in the clinic system, building rapport and cooperation with all key stakeholders and developing systems and tools that enhance collaboration and efficiency in clinics. This position is funded through Legal Aid Ontario’s Innovations Fund, and will follow up on the recommendations made in the KnowledgeNOW Discussion Paper and Report, 2010. Position Assets (Knowledge & Experience)

·  Experience working in a knowledge management environment with current knowledge of promising practices in the area

·  Experience in adult education, appreciative inquiry, organizational development and/or action learning techniques

·  Demonstrated relationship-building and management skills

·  A commitment to the field of social justice advocacy and /or access to justice issues and an understanding of the community legal clinic system in Ontario

·  At least 3 years' experience in not for profit project and budget management

·  Familiar with IT project management techniques

·  Hands-on experience working with new communications technologies and online networking tools

·  University degree in a related field or equivalent experience

·  Excellent computer skills including strong command of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Web 2.0 technologies

·  Bilingualism

Some of the Key Duties of the Position Holder are as follows

·  Relationship Management: e.g. build and maintain positive working relationships with all clinic management, staff and boards.

·  Communication & Culture: e.g. communicate the Clinic Knowledge NOW vision and project details so as to ensure widespread understanding and support of the project. Develop simple but effective methods to cultivate and support a stronger knowledge-sharing culture with all clinics.

·  Specific Knowledge Management Tasks/Duties/Activities: e.g. provide knowledge management training to clinic staff on an as-needed/as-requested basis. Increase the sharing of knowledge between clinics using a variety of methods. Develop innovative ways of recognizing the promising practices in some clinics that would be of benefit to all.

·  Project Management: e.g. create a project management report including deliverables (milestones, detailed tasks and activities), deadlines and risks/dependencies for each deliverable. Work with the Clinic KnowledgeNOW Steering Committee to develop measures by which each deliverable will be assessed so as to ensure successful completion of each.

·  Technology Management: e.g. act as a conduit between LAO IT and clinics in areas affecting the effective use of technology when sharing knowledge within the clinic system.

The position will be based in Toronto, but alternative work location arrangements may be considered.
