COMPUTER LAB DIRECTIONS

Opening a brochure:

Click on the blue W in the dock. When the window opens, choose “Business” on the left and locate “Brochures”. After that, a variety of brochures appear. Pick one. After you choose it, a box for typing company information pops up. You don’t have to type in this. Just accept (not cancel) and begin.

Typing Descriptive Paragraphs

You can type in the boxes that are already there.

Make a new text box: Be sure the drawing toolbox is on…go to View…then Toolbars….then Drawing. (I also check to see if Standard and Formatting are checked while I am there.) The button for making a text box looks like this:

After you click on it, a little plus sign will appear with your mouse. Click and drag to make a box. After you type in it, you can make the line disappear by double clicking on the box, choosing COLORS and LINES…then go down to the middle section titled LINE…click on COLOR and choose NO LINE.

Type all of your words on each of the six pages BEFORE doing pictures.

Changing Text Direction for Mailer Page:

Go to the proper page on your brochure. Make a new text box if you need to and then go to Format…TEXT DIRECTION…choose the box on the right.

Hotel Links for Pictures:

On your resources handout, write down which of the links below you used for pictures for your brochure. You may not use Google here in the lab.

Screen Capture:

To take a screen capture of a photo on the page, do the following:

Hold down the Apple Key, the Shift Key and the 4

The mouse turns into a target/plus sign

Drag, hold and pull the mouse from the top left corner to the bottom right

When you let go, the area you “caught“ appears as a picture on your desktop

Inserting Pictures from desktop

Go to Insert….Picture…From File….

Choose the desktop photo you want to put in brochure

It will probably go in wrong…that is okay. You just need to double click it, choose Layout…and then Tight. This will allow you to move and resize it.
