3 / Civil design in landscape works
The issue of washouts and erosion in open spaces has been discussed. Consultants suggested that this may be caused by various reasons;
-Unusual weather pattern during last 12 months,
-Quality or type of soil,
-Lack of or incorrect geotech fabric,
-Costcutting, and
-Incorrect Hydraulic design.
The involvement of civil consultants into design of landscape open spaces was discussed as a part of a solution as well as adjusting TCCS standards and specifications to take into consideration changing weather patterns. / To follow up with civil consultants and internally, within TCCS / GJ
4 / Vehicle restriction rails “banana rails”
GJ informed that banana rails are not longer supported. For approved design that hasn’t been constructed, landscape consultants should request amendment to the approved design. This will be issued by DRC with no charges. / N/A
5 / Ponds versus Retarding Basins –public expectations
GT requested that relevant terminology is used when referring to the retarding basin as opposed to a pond. General public may misunderstand drawings/plans when making decision about purchase of the block and therefore correct description and terminology should be used by designers. / To maintain the correct name of the asset throughout the project / All / ongoing
6 / Rubber surfaces
GJ distributed soft copy of a draft advisory note - Playground Rubber Softfall. This advisory note was prepared by Grant Thomas after consultations with the asset owners and Capital Works areas of TCCS to consolidate requirements for products, installation and use of rubber softfall in a consistent manner, as opposed to dealing with these issues on a project by project basis, as currently applied.
The draft LAN has been also distributed via email to all industry groups with request to provide comments to by COB 3rd of April.
