Assignment:

Choose a topic (behavior, psychological phenomenon, disorder, etc.) related to developmental psychology and/or theories of personality and perform in-depth research. Your topic can relate to child development, adolescence, adulthood, old age, and/or personality.

When researching your topic, you must use at least three sources, one of which must be a scholarly journal. Suggested resources include encyclopedia articles, academic magazines, Google Scholar, and/or the CHS Library Databases. To find a scholarly journal, use Google Scholar or the CHS Library Databases.

Write a 3-4 page paper, in which you must summarize, react to, and discuss the future implications of your chosen research topic.

*We will be meeting in the library on (M) 3/7/16 and (T) 3/8/16.

*Students may use free periods, lunch periods, and/or study halls to utilize CHS library resources

Your paper should include the following elements:

· Introduction: Description of Research

o Introduce topic of study.

o What behavior, psychological phenomenon, disorder, etc. did you choose to research?

o Who were the psychologists involved with your chosen research topic?

o Who were the participants being studied?

· Findings: Discussion of Research Findings

o Discuss findings of research.

o What did you discover about your research topic?

o What statistics did you find about your research topic?

· Personal Opinion: Reasons for Studying, Reactions to Findings

o Why did you choose to research this topic?

o What is the purpose to studying this research topic?

o What is there to be gained by studying this topic?

· Conclusion: Significance and Implications of Your Research

o What is the significance of studying your chosen topic?

o How could knowledge/information about this topic affect others?

o How does this topic describe, explain, predict, and influence human thought and behavior?

· Citation of Sources:

o You must use at least 3 sources for this assignment

o At least one source must be a Scholarly Journal

o Suggested sources include:

· Format: American Psychological Association (A.P.A.)

· Length:

· Font Style: Arial/Times New Roman

· Font Size: 12 point

· Line Spacing: 1.5/2.0

Grading:

· All papers will be graded based on the above criteria, as well as organization, clarity, spelling, and grammar.

· “Development & Personality” Papers will be worth 100 points.

Due:

· All papers will be due on (R) 3/24/16

· If papers are late, 10 points will be deducted for each day late.

· No papers will be accepted after (T) 3/29/16.
