2011 Homecoming Royalty Nomination Packet

Important Information & Dates:
Student organizations, university departments, faculty, staff, contract professionals and administrators may nominate one male for Royalty/King and/or one female for Royalty/Queen (nominations are taken individually, not as a couple.)
Nominations are due Tuesday, September 6, 2011 by 5pm to the Student Union Information Center.
A $30.00 application fee per nominee is required at the time the completed application is returned to the Student Union Information Center. The nonrefundable fee covers the cost of the candidate’s dance ticket, game flowers for the court, a meal and photographs. Checks can be made payable to The University of Akron and university requisitions are accepted.
Candidates must be fully admitted to The University of Akron, have at least a 2.5 accumulative grade point average (GPA) and have completed 96 credit hours (32 credit hours for students in an Associate Degree program) at The University of Akron as of September 6, 2011. A grade waiver permitting GPA verification is included in this application, and must be signed and returned with the nomination form. Ineligible candidates will be notified about their status as soon as possible.
Note: If you are interested in running but do not meet the established criteria as outlined in the application packet an opportunity for you to submit an appeal for review of your qualifications is being offered. No appeals will be granted to reconsider the student in good standing or GPA requirements as stated. Should you wish to submit an appeal for review it must be received along with the complete application and a one page only correspondence explaining the rationale of your appeal by the deadline stated above. Your appeal will be considered by the Appeals Committee and you will receive notification by 5pm Wednesday, September 23.
Elections to the Homecoming Royalty will be Wednesday, September 14th (opening at 8am) thru Monday, September 19th, 2011 (Closing at Noon) on the web at www.uakron.edu/vote. Eight (8) men and eight (8) women will be elected Homecoming Royalty, from which one man and one woman will be selected as Homecoming King and Queen via an interview/presentation process.

Each candidate agrees to attend the following activities to be elected to Homecoming Royalty and to be eligible for King & Queen:
Meeting and Photo Session: Thursday, September 8, 2011
1:30pm; Student Union room 310
IMPORTANT: If selected for the homecoming Royalty, all finalists must sign up for a Fifteen (15) minute presentation/interview time. The sign-up sheet will be available from 5 PM - 11 PM on Monday, September 19th, 2011 at the Student Union Information Desk, if you are unable to sign up when you receive your call. Royalty will walk over from SU 300H to Infocision Stadium at 2:00pm; for interaction with Alumni and Zips VS Florida International University.
NOTE: Dates, Locations & Times are subject to change. Additional commitments may be added. A finalized schedule will be distributed at the candidate meeting on September 8, 2011 at 1:30PM.

2011 Homecoming Royalty Candidate Agreement
I give my permission to the Department of Student Life to check and verify both my accumulative grade point average and the number of credit hours that I have completed at The University of Akron (prior to Fall Semester 2011) for the purpose of verifying eligibility to participate in the Homecoming Royalty process. I understand that I must be fully admitted to and have completed at least 96 credit hours at The University of Akron (32 credit hours for students in an Associate Degree program) and have at least a 2.5 accumulative grade point average when this criteria is verified on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
I also understand and agree that I will attend all of the specified 2011 Homecoming activities as outlined in the Homecoming Royalty information sheet in order to be on the September ballot, to be elected to the Homecoming Royalty and to be considered for the 2011 Homecoming King or Queen.
