The Role
The importance of data and information in transforming the delivery and design of services cannot be underestimated. For Middlesex Students’ Union, this information is vital in helping us to further our understanding of Middlesex University students – our members – and develop activities and opportunities that work for them. We want research to underpin and inform all that we do.
The Research & Insight Assistant will play a valuable role in helping us to achieve these goals: supporting the capture, collation and analysis of student data, and highlighting outcomes to MDXSU staff and elected officers in order to measure the impact of our work and inform delivery of new or ongoing projects.
We are seeking a candidate (Middlesex University student or alumnus preferred) with strong analytical skills, who is competent in maintaining databases, analysing data and writing reports. You will have experience in carrying out research projects utilising a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods; the Research & Insight Assistant will be responsible for producing effective surveys, alongside some facilitation of focus groups.
Responsibilities
· Work with the Communications & Income Manager to develop and implement an annual research plan
· Undertake research projects in a range of areas – including carrying out our annual Big Union Survey, reporting on our social media and digital engagement, and tracking student engagement in MDXSU services and opportunities
· Plan and act out research activity, including producing surveys and facilitating focus groups
· Provide detailed analysis of data and information, producing reports summarising findings
· Maintain database of student details and engagement records
· Adhere to data protection guidelines, with a focus on the incoming General Data Protection Guidelines (GDPR)
· Work with the Communications & Income Manager to provide support and guidance for the wider team on collecting and managing data
