1. General

1.1Scope

  1. This section describes the requirements for Single Path Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flowmeters
  2. Under this item the contractor shall furnish and install the Clamp-on Flowmeter as indicated on the plans and as herein specified.

1.2Submittals

  1. The following information shall be included in the submittal for this section:
  1. Data sheets and catalog literature for the meter, transducers and associated equipment.
  2. Dimensional and installation drawings.

2. Products

2.1 Clamp-on Ultrasonic Flow Meter

  1. The meter shall be Clamp-on type that uses externally mounted transducers with no pipe penetration.
  2. The meter shall be NEMA 4X, capable of Transit-time operation.
  3. The meter shall be single path and include a pipe configuration menu to correct for flow errors due to inadequate pipe diameters or convoluted piping.
  4. The meter may be AC (100-240VAC) or DC (11.5-28.5VDC) powered.
  5. The transducers shall be NEMA 4X, matched to pipe size and material.
  6. The meter to transducer connection cable will be a coaxial type that can be field shortened and provide a submersible connection.
  7. The meter shall be microprocessor based with graphic display and advanced diagnostics. It shall include automatic Reynolds number compensation.
  8. The meter shall provide 1x 4-20mA, 1x Pulse, and 1 Relay outputs. An RS-232 output for PC communication will be included. Internal data logger with 1MB programmable memory will be included.
  9. Meter programming will be done with the integral keypad or a PC.
  10. Meter will provide totalization and flow rate in all standard units.
  11. Meter accuracy will be 0.5%-1% of rate at flows above 1 fps.
  12. Meter shall be bi-directional
  13. Meter shall have auto-zero and not require flow stoppage to set zero flow.

3. Operator Functions

3.1Setup

  1. Setup will be done through integral keypad.
  2. Meter shall be capable of setup parameters specific to all standard pipe materials
  3. Internal diagnostics shall include, signal strength, aeration, and sonic velocity.
  4. Alarm relays will allow detection and identification of system faults.

4. Execution

4.1 Installation

  1. Meter will be wall mounted in an appropriate and convenient location.
  2. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for transducer location.
  3. Transducer spacing will be determined by meter following data entry.

5. Warranty

5.1 Terms

  1. The manufacturer of the above specified equipment shall guarantee for twelve (12) months from equipment startup or eighteen (18) months from date of shipment, whichever occurs first, that the equipment shall be free from defects in design, workmanship or materials.
  2. In the event a component fails to perform as specified or is proven defective in service during the warranty period, the manufacturer shall promptly repair or replace the defective part at no cost to the owner.
  3. Performance guarantee- the FST020 is guaranteed to perform in accordance with the information provided in the Application Data Sheet. If the meter does not perform as required and the manufacturer, after given reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue, cannot make the field adjustments necessary to provide acceptable performance, the meter may be returned for a full refund.
