Our committees are Design, chaired by Myra Dunlap; Economic Restructuring, chaired by Steve Anderson; and Promotions. Call Wanda at 662-836-7886 to volunteer for one of the committees or for more information. Thanks to the City of Belzoni for funding this project.

FREE WORKSHOP: “MARKETING YOUR BUSINESS”

On July 7, the seminar “Marketing Your Business” was held at the Humphrey County Library and was well attended. The seminar was designed to:

-Provide small business owners with knowledge needed to attract new customers;

-Share with attendees how to use marketing to build a demand for their product or service;

-Inform business owners and managers how to prepare a strategy for promoting their business.

Businesses do not have to spend a lot on marketing to get the positive results they desire. The participants learned how to increase their business in a cost productive and efficient manner.

CANDIDATES FORUM

A “Meet the Candidates” forum was held at the Depot Theater on Tuesday, July 19th. This forum was open to all candidates for county office. Each candidate was given time to present their platform to the voters. This forum was a great way for voters to come and listen to the candidates and learn how they plan to improve Humphreys County. There was a large turnout of interested voters and over 25 candidates participated

SOUTHERN REMEDIES PROGRAM

A health fair was held at the Catfish Museum on Monday, July 11. Health screenings were given free of charge. The MPB broadcast of the Southern Remedies radio program took place at the Depot Theater immediately following the health fair. The program was very interesting and educational. Our own Dr. Carlton Gorton, Dr. Frances Bacon and Rev. Clara Reed were on the panel. There was a good turnout and many prizes were given away.

The Foundation receives requests from our website requesting information about our county. In the last two months the Catfish Museum has had over 120 visitors from twelve states to stop by and pick up information about our county. Brochures have been mailed to welcome centers and visitor bureaus around the state and country. A brochure is enclosed. The director has attended a planning workshop pertaining to the establishment of a culinary trail in the Delta which will help tourism for Humphreys County and the Delta. Our tourist attractions are regularly promoted on our FaceBook page- Friends of Humphreys County.

Working together, we can build a brighter future for all

Working together, we can build a brighter future for all

The Foundation has promoted “Shopping at Home” in The Banner, Facebook and email.

There are five excellent reasons to shop at home:

1. Buying local creates jobs;

2. Small business fosters community;

3. Buying local keeps the dream alive;

4. Buying local boosts your local economy;

5. Buying local creates a ripple in society.

We are also reminding local residents that for every $100 spent at a local small business in Humphreys County, $68 returns to the community.

Working together, we can build a brighter future for all.
