3 Part-Time Posts: Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts, Adolescent Psychotherapists or Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Counsellors

Each post-holder will be employed to work in one or two educational institutions (at Brent Secondary and Primary schools and Brent YOS or at the Brent Pupil Referral Unit-PRU)

At the schools and YOS or PRU the post-holders will have responsibility for providing assessment and brief psychotherapy to pupils, group work with adolescents, if appropriate and family/parent work if requested by the Clinical Director, consultation to teachers and other professionals. The post-holder will play a central role in facilitating work discussion groups for staff within the school.

In addition to the school and YOS/PRU based work, the post-holders, depending on the post, will attend up to 2 clinical meetings (around 2 hours) on Tuesdays afternoons at Laufer House and one small group supervision.

The post-holders might be involved in the provision of ‘Adolescent Exploratory Therapy’ (AET) and psychoanalytic psychotherapy to young people referred to BCYP at Laufer House, if additional funding is available.

The post holders will also take part in the on-going psychotherapy outcome study and clinical audit and Young Offenders Research. They will assist the CEO & Clinical Director, the Executive Assistant to CEO & Service Manager (Clinical Administration) and other staff in the development of the Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP) as required and appropriate.

Requirements:

The post-holders should have relevant experience of working within schools as psychotherapists, counsellors or clinicians, and should be a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists (according to ACP criteria), Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts (BPC) or Psychodynamic Counsellors (BACP) with relevant experience. Trainee psychoanalysts with relevant experience would be considered.

Salary: £30,764 to £36,666
According to post, qualifications, duties and experience

Hours of Work: To be determined for each post

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum (pro rata) plus 2 non statutory days (pro rata). The post holder should avoid taking annual leave during school term time.

Fixed Term Contract:

The post is initially funded for one year. This is likely to be extended depending on further funding.

Responsible to: CEO & Clinical Director

Accountable to: CEO & Clinical Director.

Duties:

·  To assess and provide assessment and brief psychotherapy to pupils on-site within 3 secondary schools, 1 primary school, Brent YOS and/or the Brent PRU K Stage 4.

·  To be involved in developing therapeutic group work with pupils/clients.

·  To work closely with the CEO & Clinical Director, the Executive Assistant to the CEO, other BCYP schools-based therapists and the Schools’ Link Persons to ensure the effective co-ordination of the outreach based work.

·  To provide therapeutic consultations to parents and families of Brent children and adolescents as required by the CEO & Clinical Director.

·  To offer consultation to schools staff (individually and within groups – e.g. work discussion groups).

·  To participate in weekly clinical meetings on Tuesday afternoons.

·  To work in the in-house service at Laufer House and offer Adolescent Exploratory Therapy (Interviewing) and Psychotherapy to adolescents aged 14-21 years old as required by the CEO & Clinical Director, if additional funding is available.

·  To assist the CEO & Clinical Director and the Executive Assistant to the CEO in the development of the Brent Centre for Young People.

·  To be actively involved in the on-going clinical audit, psychotherapy outcome study, other psychotherapeutic research, writing clinical papers or other projects as required by the CEO & Clinical Director.

·  To maintain and develop the relationship with current referrers (schools, Brent PRU and GPs Practices at Laufer House).

·  To assist the CEO & Clinical Director, the Executive Assistant to the CEO and other staff in the development of relationships with other organisations working with young people.

·  To work with the CEO & Clinical Director, the Executive Assistant to the CEO and other members of the staff to develop the profile of the Centre and raise awareness and interest in the Centre and its services.

·  To work with the CEO & Clinical Director, the Executive Assistant to the CEO Service Manager (Clinical Administration) and administrative staff in identifying and collating statistical information about the work of the Centre and its outcomes that may help to present a case for support.

·  To comply with, promote and contribute to the development of the Centre’s mission, policies and procedures.

·  To commit to the aims of the Centre and its strategic plans.

·  To provide such additional support, as the CEO & Clinical Director may deem necessary, including attending meetings as the Centre’s representative.
