ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Department of ECE, one of the premier Departments of RGMCET is offering U.G and P.G courses (DSCE & ES). The Department aims to be the leader in ECE applications and solutions. The Department pioneered and continues to refine the teaching methodologies with its intellectual faculty. Enriched by Seven Professors and Eleven Associate Professors, the Department strives to reach the goal of achieving long term growth. Since its establishment, it has maintained an unwavering commitment to R&D as five of the teaching faculty are involved in research work in various research areas and registered for Ph.Ds in JNT University. The balanced portfolio approach allows the Department to address the needs of student community. Since its formation, the Department has grown swiftly as a trail blazer for its five university gold medals. The Department has 15 laboratories equipped with latest equipment which includes Advanced 8086 & 8051 Training system, Arbitrary Function Generators, Digital Light Projector, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, Finger print Authentication tool, Global Positioning Training system, Wireless Equipment, Image daughter card, Microwave Benches, Mobile Telephony Communication system. The Department possesses nearly ten licensed and state-of the-art software, viz., VLSI Design suite with student edition and plus edition, MATLAB, SIMULINK, CCS software full version, Multisim, MultiMCU, Synplify Pro, Ultiboard, VisSim/Comm. Microwind Low Power VLSI Design and Cadence Tools. VODs are available (procured from IIT Kharagpur) on different courses that are being taught at UG and PG levels.

Objective of the workshop

The Objective of the workshop is to train the Students to utilize the capability of MATLAB for their Research/Project work in the fields like Communications and Signal Processing. The MATLAB software is a fundamental computational tool used in various educational institutions around the world. MATLAB provide a flexible environment that enables to accelerate the research, reduce analysis and development time, and deploy advanced applications. This rich set of proven tools for analyzing and visualizing systems and data enables you to experiment with new approaches and gain insight into the behavior of complex systems.

Communications System Toolbox provides algorithms and tools for the design, simulation, and analysis of communications systems. These capabilities are provided as MATLAB functions, MATLAB System objects, and SIMULINK blocks. The system toolbox includes algorithms for source coding, channel coding, interleaving, modulation, equalization, synchronization, and channel modeling.

Signal Processing Toolbox provides industry-standard algorithms for analog and Digital Signal Processing (DSP). This toolbox can be used to visualize signals in time and frequency domains, compute FFTs for spectral analysis, design FIR and IIR filters, and implement convolution, modulation, resembling, and other signal processing techniques. Algorithms in the toolbox can be used as a basis for developing customized algorithms for audio and speech processing, instrumentation, and baseband wireless communications, Statistical signal processing and data windowing functions, Power spectral density estimation algorithms, Digital FIR and IIR filter design, analysis, and implementation methods, Analog filter design methods, Signal transforms, including Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), Linear prediction and parametric time-series modeling.
