Who: The Rotary Club of Hilton Head and the Hilton Head Early Education Center PreK classes

When: April 28, 2017 8:00 am – 11:30 AM

Where: Hilton Head Presbyterian Church (235 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head SC 29926)

What: This free program helps our children learn about safety while providing fun filled learning experiences.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department, Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue, Hilton Head Island Regional Health Center, Palmetto Electric and The Sandbox will be providing hands on safety experiences for the PreK class from the Hilton Head Early Education Center. The program is designed with the goal of preventing injuries and teaching children how to be safe.

The children love driving the pedal cars around our outdoor “town” complete with miniature buildings. The hazard house is a great way to teach home safety. The hospital will be teaching first aid skills to the children. We will have HH Fire and Rescue allowing the children to sit in the fire truck and the Sheriff’s deputies teaching stranger danger and allowing the children to see the inside of the patrol car.

This year the Hilton Head Rotary is partnering with the Hilton Head Early Childhood Center to present this program. Approximately 140 children registered in the PreK program will come to “Safety Town” as a field trip.

Children will be in groups of ten and will rotate through each station. All the children will receive a t-shirt and “goodie” bag to help them remember all the great safety lessons they will learn.
