NAME ……………………………………
Perth City Community Mental Health Team is a multi-professional group, whose overall aim is to provide a specialist assessment and treatment programme for people with severe and/or enduring mental health problems within the community.
You will be introduced to your mentor, associate mentor and other members of the team.
You will be orientated to the layout of the bases, and core induction checklist will be completed with you.

Working Hours

You will work from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Every effort should be made to work a minimum of 3 days per week with your mentors in order to achieve learning objectives.

Procedure For Sick Leave

Please contact your mentor and university staff to ensure that appropriate personnel are informed.

Meal Breaks

Staff supply their own tea and coffee. There is a staff room on the premises and lunch can be brought in, or obtained from local shops. /

Dress Code

Civilian clothes are worn within the community.
  • Sports wear, jeans and combat trousers are not allowed.
  • Jewellery should be limited.
  • Footwear should be closed in at toes – no trainers.
  • Smart, but casual wear is advised.

Facilities Available For Students

Journals and books are available in each base, and the Gillingham Library at Perth Royal Infirmary and the library at MurrayRoyalHospital can be accessed.
Depending on the business of the team, staff members will be available to give information on a range of relevant topics, and there will be the opportunity to shadow other members of the multidisciplinary team.
We encourage learner nurses to ask questions and will endeavour to answer them. However, we will expect learner nurses to assist with their own learning by developing a questioning approach and evidence-based practice.
We hope you enjoy your placement, and find it a valuable learning experience.
