Results for WEEK 4 of the Kildwick 10 mile TT 06th May 2015

Hello again everyone, I hope you’ve all had a good winter and some enjoyable riding. Sorry I’ve appeared a bit later this year but I must have known that there was something amiss with the weather and delayed my return to Blighty from the warmth of Australia. I’ll catch up with previous weeks results at a later time though I know that they’ve already appeared on Facebook . I’ll add some age standard times to them.

It was a well run event tonight and the first run by Skipton CC, so well done to them and all the people that turned out on a very cold night for marshalling, pushing off, and other duties. Despite rider numbers being low there were some fast riders amongst the 15 who did ride. First overall was Thomas Wood who rode well in windy and cold conditions – and but for that truck at the roundabout Andrew may have just pipped him ;-)

First Vet home was Seth Smith with a very good overall time of 22:16.

Look forward to seeing you next week and hopefully in much warmer conditions.

Results of the Kildwick 10 mile TT 13th May 2015

Thank you all riders tonight for giving a splendid show of speed. Steve Ayres was going like a steam train when he passed the finish line and completed with an excellent time of 21:05 taking tonight’s honours. Andrew Wooler was within a hair’s breadth of his own best time and Alex Fold pulled out a time only 45’ down on his best time at Kildwick last season – not bad for his first ride on the course this year.

In the Vets category Peter Yates starred having a +5:17 on his standard time so sailed into 1st place. Adrian Jones, 4th overall, was second in the vets category beating his best ‘ + ‘ time on the course last year by 34’; Nigel Austin was 3rd with a standard time a little down on his times last year but that will no doubt improve knowing Nigel!

Of the younger riders tonight, Alex Barusevicus had a time of 23:14 which was only 6 seconds slower than his best time on the course last year – well done Alex.

A couple of the riders missed the entrance to the finish and so, based on conversations with the timekeeper, were given estimated times as near to the correct time as possible. (Can later be corrected with the use of their computers)

Hope to see you all again next week....we’re having a few darkish evenings so lights would be a good idea if you haven’t already got them.

Results for Number 6 (3rd June 2015) of the 14 Kildwick 10 mile TT’s for 2015

Thank you to Skipton for running the TT tonight and to all the marshals out on the course. Thanks in particular to Ernie Hankin from Bronte who steadfastly mans the Little Chef roundabout most weeks and this week found himself being hospital transport for Abdul Hamid after he and Mark Allatson came to grief on the by-pass. There were no cars involved in the incident. Abdul is badly cut and bruised and doesn’t have much of his skinsuit left intact and the latest information I have is that he is awaiting being seen by a doctor in A&E. We all wish him well and a speedy recovery. Thanks too, to other members of VC Bradford who took care of Abdul’s bike for him.

After the 4th and 5th 10’s of this year’s series had to be cancelled owing to the road works we were all looking forward to some fast rides tonight. Having been speaking to emergency contacts I didn’t get chance to see times until I got home and was very pleasantly surprised to see Richard Bideau’s excellent result of 19:47....if memory serves me well this is only 5 seconds slower than Steven Burke’s time on this course 2 years ago. Should Richard be training with the 4 man GB track pursuit squad? Not only was he the overall winner but also took the position of first vet with a +6:31 on his age standard time. Well done Richard for an excellent win tonight. Steve Ayres from VC Bfd/Pennine also completed an excellent ride to get second place and third tonight was Jamie Ridehalgh whose endurance track training is proving its worth.

First lady home and 13th overall in an impressive field, was Nina Benson from Ilkley CC who had second place in the vets category with a +4:35 on standard time.

Seth Smith took 3rd place in the Vets category with a +4:12 on standard time.

Well done to all podium finishers and to all riders for taking part.

Don’t forget it’s the 25 mile TT next week. Thank you to Steve Ayres who has put the Strava map of the 25 course on Bronte Wheelers Facebook page. Start is 7.00 p.m..not 7.30 as listed in this year’s timetable of events.

10 June 2015 / 25 Mile Cattle Crossing A59 / 19:30 / Bronte WCC

Results for the 25 mile Cattle Crossing TT, Stirton Road End, Skipton – 10th June 2015

What a shame that more riders didn’t enjoy the ideal conditions tonight for the 25 mile TT. Despite the re-chipping of the road from Highgate Farm gateway (at the top of the hill before the decent into Gargrave) through to the tight left hander into Gargrave village, the high volume of cars throughout the day had compacted the surface sufficiently to ensure a trouble-free ride in that area.

Certainly the road surface didn’t prevent a new course record being set (yet to be verified) with a fantastic ride from Peter Barusevicus of 54:19. It was good to see him again, he was missed at the Kildwick TT’s last year. Second place went to Steve Ayres – who – despite a slow puncture in his rear tyre managed a brilliant 56:26. Alex Barusevicus was third and at 15 years of age completed the course in 1:03:30. a commendable ride. First Vet was Andrew Dent who was fourth overall with a time of 1:04:27.

Well done to all riders for coming out on a perfect night and all having good rides; thank you to all officials.

We’ll keep you posted about road surfacing on the Kildwick course but all indications are that the high volume of traffic throughout the day ensures the new surface is rideable with care by the time we start the TT. The main are of concern could be the roundabout in Kildwick for riders warming-up. It presently has a nasty lip on it – hopefully this will have been re-surfaced before next Wednesday.

Here are tonight’s results......

Results for Number 7 (17th June 2015) of the 14 Kildwick 10 mile TT’s for 2015

The first thing I’ll mention tonight is the three additional 10 mile time trials we have added to our programme for 2015. These are to be run from Cracoe.

Approval has been given for the course starting on the B6265 at the southern end of the layby on the south side of Cracoe village. Proceed south on the B6265 through Rylstone to traffic island just north of Skipton B6265/A59 (4.7 miles). Encircle island and retrace route along B6265 north towards Cracoe, through Rylstone to finish in village of Cracoe 50 yards before speed derestriction sign at the entrance to Farm on the left.

I’ve attached below the programme for the rest of the season which now includes these three additional TT’s, 2 of them are on a Thursday and 1 a Tuesday.

Tonight was a very windy affair with the wind from the west giving a good help on the way back. It must have been rather trying on the way out. Despite this, our first home, Thomas Wood had a good time of 21:35 followed by first Vet, Seth Smith who took second place overall in 22:16 and third place overall taken by Gary Smith who was second Vet on the night. Gary just pipped Andrew Wooler who took 4th place and who looked as though he’d been in the wars with a lot of skin off – which didn’t seem to slow him down too much tonight! It was good to see two lady riders tonight we hope to see more at future events.

Many thanks to all marshals and timekeepers. Skipton are in charge next week - hope to see you there.....

Results for Number 8 (24th June 2015) of the 14 Kildwick 10 mile TT’s for 2015

Tonight the rain which threatened just before the start didn’t materialise for the evening and there was little wind. What wind there was came from the west at about 11 m.p.h. This may have assisted on the return journey but nothing near as much as last week. However, the fact that the wind was easier tonight obviously helped to make the outward journey a little easier. Last week’s winning time was 21:35 but Steve Ayres, tonight’s winner, came in at 21:00....20:59.91 to be exact which has to be rounded up to the next second! An excellent ride.

Second tonight, Andrew Wooler, took 28 seconds of his time of last week producing another great ride despite his lack of training after his rather nasty accident a few weeks ago; third place, and first Vet was Adrian Jones in 23:00 – down 10 seconds from a couple of weeks ago but still an excellent time. Second and third placed Vets were Russell Marsden and Steve Colloby respectively. Russell with a 23:45 and Steve 24:03. Well done Russell, 26 seconds faster than last week. Hardly a week passes without reference to one of our younger riders – Alex Barusevicus - who produced another good time despite being held up at the roundabout.

If you can make out the weather information appended below you can see the conditions that prevailed between 7 and 9 pm. It could be interesting if I do this every week so that you can see the difference wind speed, gusts and temperature make to your performance. The information comes from the Met Office web site.

Many thanks to all Skipton personnel tonight for marshalling duties , timekeeping, pushing off etc. Thanks to all riders for staying safe.
