EXHIBITION 28thApril 2018
“From the Desert to the World” – celebrating the Centenary of ARAB HORSE SOCIETY
at the NATIONAL HERITAGE CENTRE FOR HORSERACING & SPORTING ART, PALACE HOUSE, NEWMARKET
A rich selection of key archives and works of art marks this memorable anniversary and celebrates the history of the world’s oldest horse breed.
Brought together for the first time on public display will be the first mapped genome of an Arab horse, ‘Sambist’, together with paintings, prints and artefacts from the untapped archives of The Arab Horse Society and its members.
The exhibition tells the story of the Arab horse from its earliest Bedouin origins to the present day, exploring, in particular, the fascinating story of the arrival of the Arab horse in Britain. In the 19th century, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt and his wife Lady Anne scoured the Middle East to import Arab horses to their stud at Crabbet Park and therefore played a vital role in the success of the breed
This exhibition is generously sponsored by the AHS Patron HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, of Shadwell Stud, and supported by Racetech. The exhibition has been designed and curated by The Company Curator.
Complementing the exhibition will be a parade featuring 20 Show champions and winning horses in all ridden disciplines in the Peter O’Sullevan Arena at 2.30pm;.
Opening Hours: 10am – 5pm daily
