UNIT:Building Repairs Service
JOB TITLE:Gas Responsive Repairs Engineer/Plumber
Grade/Salary:£24,472 to £27,402 per annum
Progression through the grade will be subject to qualifications, performance and experience.
Special Arrangements:Responsive repair call out rota
Responsible To:Senior Gas Repairs & Technical Engineer
Responsible For:The day to day attendance/diagnosis/repair of gas appliances
General Job Objective:To ensure BDC tenants are provide with heating and hot water at all times
Specific Requirements:To undertake the successful repair to defective Gas and Oilappliances/systems installed within BDC properties.
To ensure all work is carried out on time, to quality and on price in accordance with the agreed performance target/s and to tenant’s satisfaction.
Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and HASAW 1974
Comply with the A1 Housing Gas/OilHealth and Safety procedures
Comply with A1 Housing policy and procedure.
Appropriate Trade Qualifications.
Key Tasks:
- To undertake individual or joint heating appliance maintenance, responsive repair, service and installation within the allocated area of works.
- To operate and work with hand held PDA devices for the allocation of work.
- To work on the A1 Housing gas responsive repairs call out rota within its specific requirement to achieve heating and hot water to the tenant.
- To undertake all trade based work to match current required qualification and training, including multi-skilling areas.
- To offer appropriate and timely professional/ technical advice to other repairs Co-ordinators and staff to ensure the effectiveness of the entire service.
- Produce boiler and system stock condition reports for the Senior Gas Repairs & Technical Engineer.
- Carry out detailed fume investigation reports in line with A1 Housing fume investigation policy.
- To complete all legislative and corporatedocumentation correctly and inform the Senior Gas Repairs & Technical engineer of any variations, materials or follow on work required.
- Exercise the responsibilities as defined in A1 Housing’s Safety Policy in respect of Health and Safety.
- To maintain the individual specific trade testing equipment stock and report any loss or defect to theSenior Gas Repairs & Technical Engineer.
- Undertake and implement the A1 Housing Water Testing and Analysis procedure of centralheatingsystems.
- To attend all required trade specific training and refreshercourses, embracing new technologies and apply the relevant skill.
- Comply with the A1 Housing ferrous and non-ferrous scrap recycling procedure/policy.
- Comply with the A1 Housing purchasing of materials in place policies. Collect and Return individual items from both external suppliers and A1 Stores.
- To maintain required set productivity in specific area of work where performance monitoring takes place.
- To operate within the method statement for customer care, including working within occupied properties In particular.
- To operate within a customer based/focused framework, putting the customer/tenant first.
- To maintain high levels of right first visit repair.
- Matrix holiday cover to ensure service delivery is not compromised.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibility level of this post.
- To maintain the individual vehicle and its allocated van stock to ensure the set levels of requirement are kept
The postholder will be employed under the NJC (APT&C) conditions of service.

EXPERIENCE
/ A minimum of 5 years’ experience in domestic gas heating and plumbing installations in occupied premises. / Experience of working within a Direct Labour Organisation.Experience installing, servicing and repairing a range of different fuel type burning appliances including Gas, Oil, Solid Fuel, Air and Ground source heat pumps.
QUALIFICATIONS / City & Guilds Craft and Advanced certificate in plumbing or similar i.e.
NVQ level 2 & 3 in plumbing.
