Salary: £8.16 per hour. This recruitment is for 4 posts:

MAIN SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILTIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Museum building and grounds are kept clean, and maintained and displayed to high standards with particular focus on ensuring standards of safety for all building users are maintained
  • Participate as part of the team providing rostered cover at all times when the Museum is open to staff and the public
  • Assist in the preparation, set-up and maintenance of the exhibitions, special events and functions

Main duties

  • Carrying out routine daily cleaning & maintenance of the building and site as per the daily requirements and any Maintenance Check Lists
  • Locking/unlocking of the site and buildings as required by the Technician, Operations or Duty Managers, ensuring that opening/closing procedures are followed at start/end of day ensuring the Museum is ready to open/close as appropriate.
  • Operating electrical and mechanical equipment (such as alarm panels and pumps) on the site under the direction of the Technician/Head of Museum Operations.
  • Working proactively with other departments as requested in the production of exhibits and displays
  • Liaising with clients of the Museum as requested during events where technical or manual handling support is required
  • Setting up function rooms for events with furniture, displays and AV equipment as required by the event specification.
  • Liaising with Event Managers during functions to provide a positive and professional service to all service users
  • Engaging as required with contractors ensuring the health and safety of staff, visitors and security of displays. Where appropriate ensuring that the Risk Assessments and Method Statements are enacted
  • Identifying hazards and communicating these or dealing with them immediately as appropriate
  • Being a part of the emergency (out of hours) call out list responding to calls to site as required
  • Carrying of two-way radio at all times when on the premises, liaising as required
  • Undertaking emergency evacuation procedures as directed.
  • Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the nature of the post as reasonably required
