BATTING FOCUS – MAKING ADJUSTMENTS

BATTING DRILLS:

Drill # 1: Tee Work – Walk Through Hit

Swings: 50

Start 2 steps back from the tee, back foot crosses over, hands follow your back foot to swing the through the ball, bottom hand swings through, top hand finishes at your shoulder

Drill #2: Batting Cage – WEAR HELMET – GOING FOR CONTACT RECORD
Swings: 100 Swings

Purpose: To practice suicides and hit and runs, and work on being aggressive and swing.

Put the machine at 60mph… and see how many out of the 100 you can hit….

Drill #3: Batting Cage – WEAR HELMET – NO PULL
Swings: 100 Swings

Purpose: To learn to wait for the outside pitch and drive it hard to the opposite field.

Set up at the batting cage so you are facing outside pitches

Drill #4: Batting Cage – WEAR HELMET – SPEED
Swings: 100 Swings

Purpose: To practice your bat speed and hitting faster pitches, and making adjustments

Set the batting cage up so it is at 70mph and see how you can make adjustments to hit the ball

Drill #5: Batting Cage – WEAR HELMET – SLOW IT DOWN
Swings: 100 Swings

Purpose: To practice making adjustments to slower pitchers….

Set the batting cage to 45-50mph, and see how you can make adjustments to hit the ball…. when we get to the competitive season we will have to adjust to all types of pitchers, fast and slow.. learn how to make your adjustments now…

Drill #6: STRENGTH TRAINING

Take a med ball and complete the following drills (2 sets of 10 reps each)

a)two hands over your head – throw ball down to the ground

b)take a med ball in your throwing hand – at your ear – throw against the wall

c)lie on the ground – med ball over your head bring your feet and med ball up to touch each other

d)squats in a stack position with the med ball at your chest

e)sit ups with the med ball at your chest
