Role Description

Ilika’s Sales team is responsible for communicating and selling our capability and knowledge throughout the energy, electronics and semiconductor sectors. Our industry leading technology, intellectual property and commercial partnerships with international blue-chip companies, gives us a compelling story to tell. The Sales Director for the USA will be responsible for the region, working independently but with support from the rest of Ilika’s Sales team worldwide. The role requires expert consultative selling techniques and a passion for closing business.

Responsibilities

·  Delivering annual sales objectives that are consistent with the company’s goals and overall business strategy agreed with the Board;

·  Provide management with regular business forecasts, customer and market trends, and changes in activities such that appropriate financial and operational decisions can be made;

·  Working with management to align customer offerings, business models and expectations with anticipated capabilities and resources;

·  Identifying the key accounts that will form the platform to drive the company’s growth and initiating relationships with key contacts in those accounts;

·  Retaining key accounts by managing expectations, building and improving relationships internationally with them, both directly and through the professional deployment of Ilika’s sales team;

·  Delivering business goals for each key account such that Ilika achieves on-going growth in revenue and profitability from these accounts;

·  Seeking potential new clients, both within the corporate structure of defined key accounts and also in new, high growth potential clients;

·  Working with Financial management to ensure that contracts are secured on an agreed and profitable basis;

·  Monitor customer, market and competitor activity;

Role Requirements

Min. Qualifications: MSc or MEng or equivalent in materials science or electronic engineering
An MBA or a degree in marketing would be advantageous

Experience: Substantial commercial experience, preferably in a consultative sales role. Proven track record of selling significant deals in the USA.
Direct and indirect field sales experience in R&D services or a technical product.

Experience of dealing with medical device companies would be advantageous

Skills: Consultative selling expertise, team player, clear communication skills (verbal presentation and written), Proven PC skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Disposition: Comfortable working in a small-company environment, naturally inquisitive, energetic, independent, not risk averse.

Travel: Domestic and international
